The even with Joe Theismann retired, it still showed the Redskins still had the talent with Jay Schroeder and that they can still play at a high level. The Eagles just were in a rebuilding mode with Buddy Ryan in his first season as head coach. They had no offensive lineman, Randall Cunningham was raw, and Ron Jaworski's career with the Eagles was coming to an end. The Redskins did what any good team would do and roll over a rebuilding team.
CBS NFL Announce teams in 1986 Pat Summerall/John Madden Dick Stockton/Dan Dierdorf Gary Bender/Hank Stram Tom Brookshier/Dick Vermeil Tim Ryan/Terry Bradshaw Jack Buck/Joe Theismann Wayne Walker/Johnny Morris Verne Lundquist/Pat Haden Ralph Hacker/Dan Jiggetts
Buddy Ryan predicted before the season started that his Eagles would go 12-4 and be 8-0 in the divison and make it to the NFC Championchip. (coughs)...
Its cool to see Jaws hand it over on 3rd down. I watched this game on TV when it happened. 1986 was the year I just started to understand the X's and O's of football. Figuring out the role of the Strong Safety and Free Safety etc. Blocking assignments, counters, traps, etc. Mike Quick has great speed and I have seen him burn Darrell Green deep a time or 2, but his route running underneath is sloppy and Darrell broke on the ball before it was thrown because of Quick lacking the ability to hide where he was going before he got there.
Cool. I had been watching since about 1979. By 86 I was frothing at the mouth for the NFL. I am a Redskins fan from Indiana. Didn't get to see these games until now. I believe this is the first time this full game has been on YT.
