I just weld a large washer onto the head of a 1/4" bolt. One nut on the inside of the pipe and one on the outside to get it centered and tighten it. You can experiment with different size washers for sound, then re-jet the carbs to get the mixture correct. Simple and effective!
No problem. Hope it helps in some way. Another option is to buy some shorty style baffles and run those with or without some packing around them. I got a set from TC Bros for my CB650 before this bike.
Next time just connect your ground clamp to the vise or the table itself it you use a metal table like I do so anything resting on table or in vise are automatically grounded for welding. You might consider replacing the ground clamp for a magnetic ground you just have to touch to any metal surface so it sticks by magnet instead of having to clamp. Harbor freight sells cheap magnetic ground clamp for %10. You just unbolt the wire from clamp and bolt it to magnet. Its super easy to get your ground hooded up just slap it onto the table or vise and your off.
WhiskyOnTwoWheels I figured I'd try and find some like that because they are similar shape to the thunder torque inserts. but if I can get away with a thick fender washer welded to a bolt and habe it do the exact same thing as the thunder torque inserts then I'll just do that.
Im 73 years young,,rode bikes all my life, and have done this petty torcherous shit like this numerous times on different machines,it is not worth the time
sounds like sh*t both ways. But that's what you get with the chop it off, then try and rebuilt mentality. I'll bet you didn't go to engineering school. But I commend the attempt and the guts to show your results. I'm sure you'll eventually get what you want. Thanks
lol thanks for the comment. I think. No, like most people I never went to engineering school hahaha. This bike is long gone now, turned out to have a faulty connection which made one cylinder cut in and out which I eventually found and fixed. But thats part of the poor sound at this point.
