I bought mine new in 1986 and rode it for 13 years. I sold it because parts became hard to find and I got a screaming deal on a leftover ‘98 Honda Superhawk. The FJ1200 was my second FJ, as I had bought one of the very first FJ1100s imported into the US. I had to sell it because of a back injury that made it difficult to ride. These were great bikes, a bit heavy, but rock solid. The only real issue with FJs was a problem with the the bike popping out of second gear under hard acceleration. I learned to go easy on the first-to-second upshift. The fix was to disassemble the gear box and undercut the gear dogs, but If you wen teasy, it wasn’t a real problem.
I just started getting into these bikes. They are beasts. You have a very nice example right there. The plastics are becoming nearly impossible to find. Ride safe....not slow, but safe.
Iv got one 3 years ago love it I have same exhaust but have silencers out had some work done to carbs but man love the way they ride very smooth and lots of power
Back in the day, these bikes came with a center stand. Why did you take it off? Was it the exhaust system? The center stand makes chain and rear wheel maintenance so easy.
