Driving a 1987 87 buick grand national 0-125 @ a 100 degrees outside. Can't wait to see after dyno tuning and on a cool day. ( kombucha...not beer!) Very fast about 600 -650 hp horsepower @ 20 psi.
Back in 94 i had a brand new 93 mustang gt i put drag lite wheels on it and left the rest of the outside stock. But i spent about 15 grand in the motor and rear suspension including a one off polished aluminum intake and race bearing vortech s-trim blower with cog set up. Anyway my sister started dating this kid and he had a beautiful 19,000 mile grand national no t tops though i like both. Well we hit it off and both were into going to the track and street racing he became my sisters first love and one night coming home from fishing he fell asleep behind the wheel of his winter better and got killed. We were all devastated!! About a year later his mom asked me if i wanted the car but i just couldn't do it two years later this guy bought it. But these cars now hold a spot in my heart i all ways loved them but it's different now i can't help but think of him when i see one! I love these cars so bad ass! The look the sound the way they take off.
Lmao Honda’s are a lot easier to make faster. Especially in straight lines from roles. I put 30k in my GN to be able to run 550whp. My hatch has 8k in it and makes 630whp and weighs2100 lbs.
Haha Marshall Sorenson bro I would drive mine to grocery shop and go everywhere like a daily car that's what it's made to do and sold it got bored of it now have a 78 pontiac trans am
Yeah holding my hand on the shifter is a habit. Its the window tracks banging around that you hear in the video. Ever since I got it started every time I go to work on it I end up driving it instead. Im an auto mechanic all day long and the last thing I want to do is come home and work on it some more. Uhg! Plus it gives me a good excuse to my wife to not sell it.
Holy Mutha, that's one fast a__ car! Just seeing the way it catches up2 & passes other vehicles... amazing! It doesn't even make a lot of noise to accelerate like this!!!
I had a Volkswagen GTI vr6. It sounded good, raced and won every street race, Mustang gts, Pontiac GTP'S, Subaru wrxs, untill the day I got smoked by a blue haired granny in a Grand National. Put me in check real quick.
I got beat by one in 1987 in my 81 Z/28. Next day went to a Buick dealership, but they wanted $16,500 for it. Couldn't swing it. Bought an 87 LX 5.0 Mustang new for$9,500 after trade in, and 2k rebate. Still have, but wanted one bad. Thanks for the ride along.
OMG!😮😮🤟...This is the same view I remember sitting behind my uncle as he flew off every red light as you do😎😎🇺🇲 This video made me get goosebumps, excited n emotional all in a few minutes Great Vid n Bro👨💻you beast mode This veh n I'm loving it
1:45 that's amazing how it takes off without the turbo engaged just yet but then when it spools up even though you're already going 30-35 mph you can hear the tires squeaking as the turbo kicks in! That's freaking bad! These cars were amazing back in the day. I want one. Is it possible to get one that's in excellent condition for under 20k?
yeah, I'm also running some 12" 295 50r15 Cooper Cobra tires on 10 inch stock replica remakes, they hook up pretty compare to the others I had on there.
This particular model came out the year I was born and I've decided that I need it. I dont know how anyone could hate on this car. I believe at the time it was p being produced there was only one car in the world faster than it. Pretty bad ass if you ask me...
Viva Texas! Sweet rig by the way!! Some dude was racing one of these near Victoria against a 2015 Hellcat and still spanked it off the line until it caught up!
Very Nice. Makes me miss mine. I built it myself in the garage over 8 months. It ran like a champ. Not as much power as yours. Maybe 400-450 hp. The guy I sold it to ran 12.0s @ 116 on street radials with it.
You are King of the road! I miss my T-Type! As i am also a tech/mech the fastest i got in the 1/4 mile was 11.80 after the mods. Then came the kids, and there went the car.
Is this the new internet meme? I've seen a lot of people bitching bout this lately. I have an E39 m5 and sometimes I rest my hand lightly on the shifter.... Who cares? When you have one you can do what you want with it..
Man you look like the modern day Steve McQueen. Instead of the 60's Mustang, . The new "Cool Classic Car" is the 87 Grand National. Lets make it official.
Awesome video!! My favorite car on the planet. I test drove a used one back in the early 90's when I was in high school. Couldn't even dream of affording it then but wish I had tried! Thanks for sharing.
I would like to own one of these. IMO, these things were built a whole hell of a lot better than these modernized vehicles you see nowadays. Even a Tesla couldn't even catch up with this.
how? i was told their r top was is 124mph?? What car today would be ,like an equal??? How fast is this car realistically top end wound out? An old ford police interceptor does over 160 mph..
I've done that to - hanging back at the light to take the others by surprise - in my mustang i just pull up to the line and let them know I'm there ;-) cool car - i always liked the grand national - great power plant
It's an amazing car. Still love the look of them. I'm a fan of all cars brands and trucks so I'm not a fanboy. But I always kind of dismissed turbo's until I started owning fords with the ecoboost engines. I had a 1.5 liter in my escape which seemed ridiculously too small of an engine but it impressed me. So I bought a new 2018 f150 with the 3.5 ecoboost and holy hell what a fast truck that is. It throws you into your seat when you get on it. I can't imagine what the raptors 3.5 feels like. Turbo's are awesome. Less weight too. I'll never say there's no replacement for displacement again. Sick car man. Wicked fast.
This is one of my favorite videos by far it brings me back to when my wife asked me to go get baby formula and then I would come back two hours later LOL
At first it sounded like a V8 and then I heard the V6 unbelievable the speed they have. Pretty sure to be safer driving with two hands on the wheel though knowing the tendency these cars have for not cornering
Back in the 80’s I had bought a 1 year old TransAm ho 5 speed, did a ton to it and she smoked everything until coming upon one of these nasty biotches couldn’t believe how fast it was.
Man. I wish my Regal had t-tops... And about the whole shifter holding thing: That literally just made me wanna drive mine cuz I do it EXACTLY the same way. haha Even when I'm not actually shifting.
Wow, beautiful car. I miss mine every day since I sold it three years ago. My dad and I restored his old 87 for my high school graduation gift. We fixed it my sophomore and junior year to "driving conditions" so I could use it my senior year. EVERYONE thought it was a monte carlo, god that was annoying. After high school I slowly started to fix the interior and exterior and after 6 years and A LOT of money (19k) I got it the way I wanted it...........................then I had to sell it :( All I can say is having a baby changes a man and I went from having this one and a 1998 Camaro SS to a 2012 Honda Pilot.
+MyNameIsKeagen Good news is the guy I sold it to is a good buddy of mine who has been deployed in Afghanistan for a while now and the car has been sitting in his garage. Going to convince him to sell it back to me later lol.
