Hi. Miss your videos. Long story short I was looking to buy my first car and one of the choices was a 2001 Saab 95 Estate. I looked on RU-vid for reviews and became fascinated by your interest knowledge and passion for Saab’s. And that’s the reason I got my first car. That was about a year ago and I am still loving every trip and caring for my car. Hope you are well, I have watched every video I could find that you made so I’m hoping there will be more in the future! Best wishes, Cassandra (Bath, UK)
I've always heard the 350 cars never came from the factory with the 5-speed because only the 700r4 automatic could handle the the extra torque that the 350 produced.
Owns body shop, owns car that needs body work. :) These were so much fun though, specially that sound the gatorbacks made when they spun. Castanets, btw.
Don't lift by the pinch welds, lift by the frame. There are so many of these cars with the pinch welds flattened and the front fenders bulged out at the bottom from being improperly lifted like this.
Good to see you back! Thanks for sharing this video, gives me inspiration to finish my 84 Z28 in the garage. Back in the 80’s I had a new 86 IROC, loved that car! Now my “mid-life crisis “ car is an 84 Z. Did the Corvette thing, now for the Camaro! Although no Mullet! Lol.
_That 'power plant frame' as you called it, was the backbone of the C4 Corvette also. Kinda late to the party here, (cool vintage commercial for sure). Great Jerry Palmer design, and decent video!_
Brother I learned to drive in Minnesota in winter. Already drove and flew at 13. Took my fiancée on the lake Chrystal. Where Lindsey Vonn skied at Buck hill. I liked when you flew in your home built. Dink I got war stories and fairytales to tell. I’m only 61. Everyone says I should have written a book and diary. They say Hemingway would be impressed with my beard. I don’t run from bulls. I ride them.
My brother has a standard 1985 Z-28 back in the day. 305 H.O motor( 150ish h.p), 5 speed, with T-Tops. I remember it being cheaply made, shared the same interior as the C4 Corvette. And, the 305 wasn't worth bragging about in terms of performance. But, I always liked the looks of this generation of Camaro.
I had a few Chevy muscle cars, but you may not believe it, a 64 chevelle with a 283 almost stock motor was the most fun.reasonably light the car flew ! Almost got me tho, hit a pole and destroyed it as you say.....didn’t keep out of the cabbage ! ! Welcome back.
I've got a 92 the last year with the big wing on the back. With 80k miles, no rust, stock except for replacement injectors. Supposedly came with a bag of coke in the arm rest box. im sure I'm driving it somewhere in a couple of my dumb videos. My doortag say 4042 lbs if I remember. And 245 horses isnt enough. My fuel pump needs to be replaced. It's that old mechanical type, forgot the name. And it's horrible to get to. Take the rear suspension apart just to get to it. Eric O has a video on doing it on a GTA. Also the sway bar isnt enough. Apparently it's so heavy eventually the front cracks somewhere, so people get a wonder bar to help keep the body roll down.
Nice !. I used to have a Red IROC-Z here in the UK upto about 10yrs ago. My Engine was stock apart from a 150hp shot of Nitrous to wake it up, and a SuperChip for the ECU. Also had a Shift kit in the box and a B&M ratchet shifter. That thing was fun !. However, in damp or wet conditions its about the most dangerous car in the world.
The rear axle was a G92 with rear wheel disc with a base axle posi 3;08 option 3;42...the base model was rear drum with a 2;57 open diff but option 3;08 posi with drums...I had 92 Z28 350tpi 4L60E G92 got rear ended (totaled). Now have a 88 Iroc Z28 305tbi 5speed 3;08 posi drum...for some reason the 88 Iroc-Z is stiffer on the suspension than my 92 Z28...guessing cause of the wonder bar and that bigger sway bar on the Iroc...Oya later on the Iroc Z will swap with a 350 or 383 and got a Holley 670cfm tbi which is in my truck...The track Camaro was the 1LE, but the 92 Trans Am had the Firehawk with a 350tpi 6 speed...only a few GM executives had 350 with a 5 or 6 speed Firehawk: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-k3NLwGOApKY.html
as other mentioned, you missed on the transmission, that's a 700R4/4l60(same difference, name change and some upgraded components). it's the only one with an almost square pan(3 small rounded corners, one sharp). the TH350 has a large 45 degree angle at right rear corner. the rest all have offsets or other odd zig-zag steps also the shifter has the [D] with square, which denoted 4 speed in GM (if it wasn't swapped out), that means lockup torque converter too :)
The torx head/screws were fully functional and a part of the F-14 fighter jets in which the designers got their inspiration. This also included a console mounted rally clock which most people did not get because they ordered a upgraded stereo which had a digital clock and most did not order both. It was a super fine design really showing off the cock pit of a fighter jet in which controls and gauges and such were on the ceiling and everywhere. These things all were intentional. These little design cues got lost and or watered down as years went by, esp by the 1990 1991 year when the government mandatory dash pads/airbags and such ruined the look of the original design terribly. I owned a new 1982 z28 and had many books one in which was titles Camaro, The Third Generation by Michael Lamm. This is where I got or can be found all the design information from the 2nd generation and the who's who of designers of both 2nd and 3rd gen and how they came up with such designs and how they had to fight with GM for every penny. The bose system came along and they had 4 speakers same as the regular units however they had the front speakers in the kick panels which stuck out like a sore thumb, very aftermarket looking and then they turned the normal door which was a part of the deluxe interior package which covered that hole in the back of the car into a subwoofer speaker system for the bose system, It was a much nicer upgrade for 1987 over the normal base system which had two dash speakers and two 6 by 9 in the side sail panels by the rear passengers shoulders.
Nothing better than an iconic 80's car from GM. They definitely had the looks and fun to drive. unfortunately automatics behind the 350's. From what I've looked at the T5 wasn't strong enough to handle the power and torque. But typical of any of manufactures trying piece a vehicle together and save money by cutting corners. Good thing for the aftermarket to make these cars stronger and more powerful.
I really like the video and you did a wonderful job I have three Camaros 8287 92 and I'm building an 84 and I have some questions on it if you can help me out
I have 87 iroc, 305 i put flow master on it, sounds awesome, feels great, how much HP do you need, really, unless your racing it, i would rather look great, car is awesome, enough power to get it done, I'm a happy man
pre-ignition and detonation are two different things. you're hearing detonation. pre-ignition kills cars on the spot. detonation is caused by the flame front of the spark hitting a flame front of a hot pocket that was caused from the pressure of the spark. pre-ignition is the air fuel mixture igniting before the spark occurs.
Since we're seeing this vid, we can assume you are still alive ... :D Are there any road courses (race tracks) in your neighbourhood? Would be fun to see this beast out at a track day, if the owner could be talked into it.
Love these cars definitely fun to ride around in, to be completely honest the back seats or not that bad, unless the car you riding around and how they rotted floor, lol I wonder to me it looks like the AC might be put back in at some point since they did take the time to cap off the condenser. You should have let the wife drive for a change.
It's funny how when he said car manufacturers would partner with Bose all the time the first thing I think is a 3rd generation rx7 then legit the next sentence he mentions the same car
@@AmesiesCorner being a Mazda tech what's your opinion on the rotary? ( be gentle 😂😂 ) me personally I love them have had zero issues with my 85 gsl-se
just one problem with ya vid ,ya NEVER EVER NEVER jack up an F Body on the sill seams (they crush and have no structural integrity) only ever on the chassis
GM only allowed an auto cause the Camaro was better than the Vette ! I had a 5.0 with the 5 speed and the leaky t-tops cloth interior and it was a monster the only place the blue ovals could get me was on straightaways and that depended on if they could keep up in the twist and turns , you should practice drifting and donuts I've done better in my Suburban!
I had an 1982 first year. Sure crossfire and all the bs. I tuned it myself. Fn car was a go cart. No horse power. Straight line not bad. Beat a lot of Rustangs. The curves was the stuff. Crap that car could drift or corner.
These look like the standard 15" wheels, not 16 - Also, the transmission should be a TH700R4, the four speed unit, unless the owner had it changed later. The TH350 was a three speed transmission. 9 bolt diff should be the LSD. BTW you lifted the car at the wrong spot: 16:55... :( This is where most of the third gens get lifted eventually and then the attachment of the fender gets bent. The correct lifting points are on the frame further inside.
Amesie we luv your vid's dude... but your in big trouble ! deep cabbage ! after that little car park drift ;) gota say that we are Mopar faithfuls hear ;)
Amesie's Automotive Corner Have you gave up on RU-vid now then?,you always used to post vids on here, what projects you got going?.....post up video dude.
Your wife doesn't say much, mine never stops talking when she is in the car with me. I purposely don't speak to her to keep the conversation down but she still finds something to talk my ear off about...Unbelievable..
I see a few people commented about you referring to the transmission as a th350 which it wouldn’t be unless someone added it later. It would have come with the factory 4 speed auto which several people already referred to. You can tell by the shape of the pan but I couldn’t tell from the angle when you had the car lifted. Also you refer to a model they built for racing which was ac delete. This was a 1LE package. Good job on the video and scaring the wife!
