I used to work for V8 Archie , the supplier for the engine conversion kit about 15 years ago. I actually was there and helped build the first LS Fiero. I left before the car was completed . It's always nice to see these cars running around with V8's in them.

That's about the perfect Fiero, right there.

V8 Archie makes great swap kits. The entire engine cradle comes out the bottom in one chunk.

The local car show we went to had a bright red one, in cherry condition. Very hard to find, in this condition. Never seen a v8 in one of these! Awesome!

Fyi pretty sure my buddy nick n his robert Wagner built the 1st. We spent many school night till sunrise solving endless issues. Started as a SE lime green “mean green spinning machine” after flipping it in a Kroger parking lot it ended up in a gt. long story many motors swaps later ended wit lt1 to ls1 to adding nitros 508 dyno his dad wrote a great book about the history and full guide before the Kroger incident finishing off in hot rod mag. There where many issues to overcome from finding the right trans to cooling to breaking to getting the power down hence the nickname it got at the scca blue ridge. His dad is a fing genius and nick a amazing fabricator. Every single bit was done by them alone I learned so much from them. Book on Amazon must have if this is something you want to do. Robert is super nice and will help in any way if you need advice. Miss those long night with them. Nick n I got so good at dropping the engine we would do it multiple times a night n walk into school greasy hand and red eyed to 1st period lol

Now!, That's the way it is done! That is the way Pontiac should have done in the first place, as a option for the Fiero . Everything looks like a factory option and natural flowing. What a great example as a goal and template for a Fiero enthusiast to go by. If you were on the fence about the Fiero, that conversion would be pushing you over to find and own a Fiero , Superfantastic work.

The Fiero could have saved Pontiac, if idiot management had let the engineers design it as a new from the ground up sports car as intended. Instead, they forced them to use off the shelf parts. The engineers still managed to make a fun little mid engine "commuter", but it could have been so much more. In 1988, they finally initiated some changes, but it was too late. Pontiac then had a second chance with the new GTO, but it looked liked shit, no soul, bland, dull. Guess they were going for "sleeper" but that failed. Then, as Pontiac was on life-support, gasping it's last breaths, the Aztec came along, placed a 45 against Pontiac's forehead, an put it out of its misery. Good job, GM.

There is an 88 Fiero ( only year with Lotus designed suspension ) with an LS1 in it that's super nice looking on Facebook autos I believe in KY for $12,000

I'm about to build one of these with a 1998-2002 ls1 from the camaro ss but will it work with the stock 5 speed or what 5 speed did he use? I'm aware of the ECU needed to be changed along with the proper chassis fitting to the bigger engine.

I bought an 88GT with 21K on it three years ago. Flew back to MN and drove it back to central CA. It now has 44K on it and, as I'm now 78, I bought it for a driver and am going to ''run its legs off!"

They dumped the Fieo to keep selling n producing the Corvett in a dying 2 seater market of the time, especially when the engineers dropped a turbo in the Fiero and it out preformed the Vette that cost twice the price.

I own an 86 fiero with the v6 and a 4 speed, about to buy an 88 with the 4 cylinder and getrag 5 speed. Any idea if this is the stock transmission or something eles? I plan on doing an ls swap to mine
