Sorry my upload schedule is taking forever to get on track. School (and admittedly the MR2) has been really holding me back. But I got two more vids filmed and just need to edit them. Also I got a bit lazy on the audio on this one so apologies for the shirt noise haha. Whoops. Anyways thanks again for watching as always. Super excited for the next car review and MR2 vid. Once I wrap up those I plan on taking a break and filming another vintage item video cuz I know some people have been waiting for those again. Stay tuned!

Thanks, I do feel like this one wasn’t a top tier vid production wise but I’m still happy with it. I’m always looking toward finding my next big jump so I think that’s the only reason I feel that way haha. But anyways yeah I hope I can get the next MR2 vid up soon enough. Lots of big steps have happened since the last vid :) so I’m super excited. I’m really hoping to get it on the road by the end of the next episode so I can do a review on it as it is now.

Great video- nice language. Makes me still like my 924S. It is a real Porsche, you feel it when closing the doors. And fixing the electrical gremlins typical for 1980s Porsches.

You’re definitely right I didn’t mention the great feeling of closing the door. As for electrical problems, well this is surprisingly one of the few cars I’ve driven without any I could find hahaha

A few little mistakes, the engine actually started as a Daimler Benz block, it made it's way into Audi, Horch, Wanderer, NSU,AMC,VW and some that I've forgotten, the cylinder head is all Porsche. It wasn't the 1st Porsche with an automatic gearbox. VW bailed out because of the oil crisis

There are so many statements in this video that are wrong, first of all, your title, the 2.5 is a totally different engine and a complete Porsche unit. VW didn't have anything to do with the design, that was Porsche, VW were wanting a sportscar, then decided not to go ahead with it, so Porsche decided to make it instead, they did NOT buy the design, it also wasn't the first water cooled model they made. The engine on the 2.0 cars were part VW , the head was Porsche. The later 2.5S models have no parts from Audi or VW. This car saved Porsche from going bankrupt

Always been amused by Porsche "purists" disdain for the VW connection. Clearly they're not big on hitting the history books. Or google these days for that matter. The 924 is a gorgeous car and I hope to have one some day.

The 924 reflects the evolving strategies at VW & Porsche. Launched as a pet project by one VW CEO then rejected by his successor. When Porsche lost the Audi engine and parts they swapped in 944 equivalents -increasing the scale of production (higher output with lower per part cost). Business considerations are definitely reflected in the vehicles.

Not a budget Porsche by no means. The 924S is very well built, reliable and is get expensive to repair if you are not mechanically inclined with how these transaxles run. The 924 was built long before the 928. These cars are expensive for a clutch replacement. Interference motors require proper timing belt replacement. Remarkable cars and if you don't have the money to maintain it properly? Don't buy one. That is how many end up in junk yards, driveways and backyards rotting to death by those who think these are the "poor mans Porsche" Not! The 924S is so aerodynamically designed that it was faster than the base 944. Then the 924S Special Edition is the 1st Porsche designed n built Club Sport Transaxle. 980 world wide examples and only 500 made for the U.S. only. Production ended in late 1988 and so there is no actual proof that 500 of actually made it to the U.S. The 924 is special, even the audi powered 924 is very reliable and rugged non interference motor. Again mechanics who knew how to work on these cars well, most are no longer around. The value of these cars has gone up in the last 6 years. It is now 2021 and premium examples cost more than you think. Cheapskates are out there thinking a bargain $3k 924S or 944 is a good car. Be ready to dump money into it. Beware of Porsche mechanics who say they know how to work on these cars. Find one who has a passion and a love affair for these cars. You will end up saving in repairs because of it. Timeless classics that will have people staring every time you drive one. Check out #FueledBy.Passion on insta. That guy has the passion and knowledge for these timeless classics.

I agree on most of that. The 924 is a good car but I think that’s kind of what I was trying to say at the end. It’s reputation as a budget car has tainted it with cheap owners and them being unmaintained. People do legit buy these for $3000 and then think they’re just bad cars when things go wrong. As for it being not being a budget Porsche though I do have to disagree. Porsche’s own website says “the successor to the 914 and eventually produced internally. The new entry level model was built Audi.” But still as a budget Porsche it is still a cut above other cars. I mean a budget Ferrari is still an expensive and good car.

The tack progresses that way in order to get a clear view as the steering wheel is in a fixed possition that would otherwise block it. Cleaver solution.

I'm 5'8" and I have to say I doubt it. Perhaps as the seat moves back the roof line equally slopes upward, but I don't think it's an even trade on the X/Y axis as it were. The seat does not lower, of course. If you do fit you may want to reposition the rearview mirror as it will be in your sightline.

@@RetraCast It’s just one of those things that sticks with you. I hear published auto journalists who write about nothing but the automotive industry and should know better than anyone that say it the same way. I think in all reality the only time it would make a difference is if you work for Porsche or at a dealership selling them of which I’ve seen Porsche salesman who have sold them for years who don’t pronounce it correctly. The worst thing I think I’ve heard regarding cars is people who say “Ahh-deee” when pronouncing Audi instead of “Oww-dee”. 😂 All that aside, your video was great. I’m a lifelong Porsche enthusiast and enjoy watching good videos especially on some of Porsche’s older models. There’s very few good videos about the 924 other than the few about the 924 Carrera GT and Carrera GTS. Keep up the great work. Your videos will only get better the more you do it. 👍

If that’s all it really actually needs that isn’t too bad. You could either buy a new caliper or rebuild the existing one for decently cheap. At the end of the day that’s more of a “would you rather have the 924 or a different car” question
