Holy cow I just watched this whole 88 series in one day 😳 Im absolutely loving this mate! I've got an 98 civic hatchback that I wanna do this exact same thing too. Thank you so much for all your links and tips! Cheers!
I really enjoy your channel. Your editing is first rate, and your mechanical skills are great. I wish I could of brought my 85 Honda CRX to you to restore but I sold it back in 2000 and I really regret that decision. But then it was a daily commuter car with a lot of problems but watching you bring these old cars back is a real treat.
Awesome Content!! 👌 I just bought a another ef hatch and did the whole suspension from a dc2 integra and got it powder coated and did the front brakes and disc from a prelude dual piston and rear disc from from the da integra it was a nightmare to get the old suspension off 😳 everything was rusted and 3 bolts I literally had grind off cause the torching wouldn't even do nothing to it but I got it done and was worth it. I like seeing ur content it gives some Movation!!
@@crxseth yea first car I got like crazy rust on but I ended sandblasting the wheel wells and just getting new bolts but it was crazy sometimes just feels like giving up lol but still ended up finishing it
i would have sprayed new bed liner in the wheel well before installing. but those new suspension parts look fab! Edit, if i haven't said it before. thank you for restoring these cars instead of racing them.
Loving the content Seth! After my Mk2 Gti project is complete I want to build a restomod Crx or Ef hatch. Question: where did you get the wire wheel that you use on your drill? I haven’t been real happy with the ones I have and like the design of yours better.
@@crxseth dude! I totally missed that! 🤣🤣🤣. Thanks, ordering them up now! And thanks again for the inspiration! Your content has inspired me to do a much more thorough job on my current project, and has also reignited my love and want for a 4g Honda again! (I had a ‘88 Si years ago and stupidly sold it.)
Nice work Seth. I wish I still had my 87 si Bought it new and traded it in on a 89 civic si. Needed a back seat. do you ever come across a clean 1st gen. Crx si ? Thanks for all your efforts that you put into your videos
I had a first generation CRX Si in black with silver bottom, so it's the generation I'm emotionally attached to, but I always liked the second generation more. For whatever reason, the color I liked the most in gen2 was the yellow. So I would enjoy watching Seth do a gen1, but I could see him sticking with gen2, since he's more familiar with the ins and outs of gen2, and already has parts cars to source from, too. But yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing him do a gen1.
Great project! Was wondering why you didn’t spray the wheel wells when you had all the suspension out? Would that be done later with other exterior paint work?
I’ll do it later. It didn’t work out with timing and being able to push the car out by myself and then remove the suspension and clean the wheel wells out. I’ll do it with the suspension installed once I can pull it out under its own power.
Because with the suspension off the car, I couldn’t wheel it outside to pressure wash and paint. Once the suspension was on I’d have to roll it out by myself and then remove all the suspension to clean and paint it. And I can’t push it up the slope of the drive by myself. So once I get it running again I’ll pull it out and jack it up and clean the fender wells and repaint with the suspension installed.
I was wondering the same thing. Reading Seth's response was a reminder that he is a one man show, working out of his garage, and is working with some restrictions and limitations that sometimes we don't understand at the time. But yeah, that would have been a GREAT time to finish up the wheel wells, if somehow possible. Cool that he took the time to explain.
Hello Seth. All Japanese models got them lower control arms. My 91sir haves them and i went true hell finding Tein coilovers. I didn't want to swap to the fork style and mess with the purity to much. i love your work. Do you need Any video projects? I have a sir that need painted LOL.
I've owned 5 CRX and every time I swear I'll never buy another one. Just because parts are so hard to source. And most parts cars have been so stripped out. By far though the CRX and EG Hatch are my favorite cars.
Another awesome video! I know this video was made over a year ago, but I’m a new subscriber to your channel and just trying to watch them in order to catch up. I’m sure you’ve probably already been asked, but if I were to buy a CRX Si would you want to use it to restore on your channel? As full time military I rarely have the time to do any of this, you obviously do amazing work, and I’d imagine you’d get some sort of monetary value from making more content. Just let me know! Keep up the great work!
Thanks, but I don’t usually do work for other people. RU-vid doesn’t really make much money, so that’s not a huge part of the equation, it’s mainly for a challenge for myself.
@@rodgerkidwell3594 I'm a new subscriber, too, but have poked around the comments enough where I knew what the answer was going to be. Wouldn't it be cool!? Our best shot at acquiring a finished product by Seth would be to buy his next project.
Honestly, The Iron Armor chassis paint from Harbor Freight has been the best that I’ve used so far. I like it better than the VHT chassis paint. Goes on smoother and dries faster and harder.
@@crxseth that is awesome to know. I think that is honestly a great option as once on the car, you are really just protecting it from moisture, corrosion and the occasional rock. Think I may use that on the EF when I get to the suspension.
Dude u know what would be cool, if while you have the suspension out you wire wheeled the wheel tubs and then like rhino lined them like a bed liner. Take away that grimy look
