Probably not much different. Detroit still beats everyone in the east in these years, but maybe it slows Chicago's progress or they elevate Phil Jackson earlier. As for Cleveland, the health of Daugherty, Harper and Price is what hurt them in subsequent seasons. And then the trade of Harper as well was a killer, I believe after the '89 season. Does that not happen if they beat Chicago in the first round? Not sure...thought it was financially driven. Edit: trade was due to suspected drug ties. Either way that team was unstoppable at times when at full strength.
@@steves9964 Actually, the Pistons were 0-4 against the Knicks in the same regular season , then again the Bulls were 0-6 against the Cavs that same year to. Therefore, the playoofs might of been different.
@stevengbavac 1. Whether the Cavs won the series or not, after game 5 of 89 they were not completely healthy until the 92 season in which they met the Bulls in the conference
@@bw1190 Detroit was 0-4 against the Knicks in 88-89 but Chicago picked off the Knicks in the second round after upsetting Cleveland in the first round, thus depriving a Detroit/Knicks ECF. Not sure what you're saying...I would've loved to believe my Knicks could have taken Detroit in 1989 but I don't think their two unit, pressing, ragged style would have had the same success in a playoff series. Or if Cleveland prevailed in Game 5 against Chicago then met and beat the Knicks I still don't think anyone was beating Detroit.

Maybe cause it’s 1988 not 90s defence and game play? Now there is zero defence and no traveling, hand check etc. Game need to sell better and attack sells better then defence
