three Hall of Famers in this opening piece Tim Brown John Elway and Frank Gifford RIP it didn't run long enough wish I could remember how the game started a year before Hank Williams Jr. started singing All my rowdy friends are here for Monday night
I remember this game. The Raiders trailed 24-0 at the half but rallied, tying the Broncos on a field goal at the end of the 4th quarter. L.A won on a three pointer in overtime. Both teams missed the playoffs with 8-8 records.
I gotta disagree. Number 1 overall pick. 5 AFC Championships, 2 Super Bowl rings. Hall of Fame. MVP winner. I think he's rated just where he belongs, one of the all time best.
Russ Caspe Understood. Yet if you discount Shannon Sharpe at tight end (and to an extent, you have to), you never had a single Pro Bowl calibre player at the skill positions until Davis came along - 13 years in. You cannot say that with Montana, Manning, Graham, Marino or Starr. I truly doubt they'd reach a Super Bowl with the equivalent of Bobby Humphrey, Mark Jackson, Vance Johnson or Sammy Winder setting the pace, or Dan Reeves as a Head Coach (has to be said). With that supporting cast, Elway reached 3. That's what is so underrated about him: more with less. But I'm willing to give back the "totally" part of the first statement, because there IS recognition of the man's accomplishments.
Should've just kept Jim Lachey and never traded for Schroeder.........or Gault. Davis' lack of attention on his lines and too much attention on speed and guys who can throw deep has been the demise ever since '84.
