Keep working the mechanism into fwd-neutral-reverse as mine did the same thing... it's still a pain to shift..

You had me wondering for a minute, but I grabbed the title and did a google deep dive-mine is definitely a 1988 Trail Boss 250 R/ES. I did notice in the repair manual (which came with it new) that there are several different models and trim types in 1988 so maybe therein lies the confusion. All the pictures of 1987 Trail Boss 2x4 had headlight on handlebars I noticed also.

NorthCoast Wellness Center I believe 3/16", bought 3 feet (used about 2 1/2') ---not sure exactly what size though, I brought the old hose with me to NAPA. I also bought a fuel filter, never trust an old one. I am going out there in an hour and will check for you.

3/16 about 2-3 feet oil line is 1/4 inch
