SOP on a doubleheader game--CBS needed to wait for the PHX/PHI, TB/ATL and GB/CHI games to be over before they could take a commercial. (PHX/PHI ran realllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllly long. :) ) Chicago and Philadelphia were both blacked out of this game.
I remember CBS promoted this game pretty well. Surprised Summerall and Madden didn't get this one. I think it was a doubleheader. And this was after CBS discontinued the practice of placing Pat & John on Giants games, Tim Ryan & Johnny Morris on Bears games etc.
Thank you for teaching me something: since January '90 I'd been wondering all this time why Madden & Summerall sounded so dull on the Flipper OT TD.... Now I know.
@@cedericocosantorini8013 yea. Sort of like Vin Scully calling Dodgers post season games back when he was the lead baseball guy at NBC. He virtually tried to make America know he couldn't stand the Cardinals winning the pennant in Dodger stadium in 1985.
I remembered watching this game at a time when I was new to watching sports on a regular basis, a few months before ny’s mark Jackson won the nba roy award so in this game when they were talking about mark Jackson I felt confused
@@joewanke6000 I'm looking for the same games as you. I don't collect Broncos losses, only the wins. I'll send you a message if I see the ones we're missing. In the meantime, I downloaded some highlights for a couple of the ones from your list while I wait for the full games to come online: 1989 week 2 broncos at bills ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mbJjNwUG71c.html 1989 week 1 chiefs at broncos ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-t9HQlPoLBnI.html
@@joewanke6000 Oh, nice! I didn't know that was Sammy Winder's last game. Cool! I'll tell you if I see it online (and if I see the other games as well). I love my Broncos!
@@joewanke6000 No, I don't usually look for Broncos games until every 12 months. It's because not many are uploaded often. I look once a year usually and see if anything new is online.
@@joewanke6000 Don't get upset. You Tube is a cranky bitch of a mistress. More will come, maybe...or they'll just delete me like they did the guy that put up 25,000 college football videos, that goddamn hero!
@@jredwine12 Stephen Barnett. So many game uploaders came and went while he was active, I assumed after a while that they would just leave him alone. Boy, was I wrong on that one....his contributions are missed.
a lot of teams were a bit backward in those days , denver give up 35 points in a quarter in the superbowl and all of their defensive coaching staff keep their jobs for this following season , not as likely to happen now .
@@bradjames891 pat bowlen gets too much of free pass on this era , i don’t see any reason to give a coach more than three or four years , reeves was already in his sixth year as hc before denver got exposed for being too small and light vs the giants , then the following years humiliation , he still was given another three years after the blowout to the 49ers , its like the franchise lacked quality management and leadership , just riding the coat tails of elway , or if elway wanted reeves that was good enough , no wonder elway likes bowlen so much .
I knew it was because the Rams only played in Denver in 82 and 88, we played there in 85 and 94(When I think Greene was in Pittsburgh). Big apology, too, your comment apparently needed to be approved. No idea why, sorry! Go Broncos!
I’ve been looking for this game for a long time and finally someone uploads it so thanks, this game proved rams were foolish pretenders, sure it was in den but the nfc clobbered den the prev 2 yrs in the sb - teams the rams beat on the road in the late 80s so if those 2 can beat em so can the rams
If this matchup happened a yr later also in den I’m sure rams would’ve clobbered em, sure both blown out in the postseason by sf but rams winning at phl & nyg in cold dec/Jan showed they improved from ‘88 while den lost at home to those 2 teams
And that's super important! The Rams: Definitely the 2nd best team of 1989! However, if it was close in the 4th quarter, you know Elway beats Everett. Every time.
