Thanks for the great Taxi videos! I have a long time Taxi restoration going on. The videos help me a lot. Cabinet is ready, a lot of work got into it. Also the electronics are updated. Now busy transferring everything to a new playfield, with many new plastics. Have to check your vid again to see what kind of leds you are using. I think I have an early Marilyn, the original eproms are beta releases. Swapped them now for latest release Marilyn eproms. Do you know the differences between Marilyn and Lola eproms? I guess Lola eproms will have more recent SW than Marilyn.
Thanks for the comment. Good luck w/ your restoration; sounds like you are well along into it. That new playfield should be awesome. All my LEDs are from Comet; most of them are 2smd warm white clear lens bulbs. There are some flex bulbs in some places like inserts to angle the light a little better. Red and green inserts got red and green bulbs, otherwise warm white just about everywhere else. The flashers are all 8smd warm white. My game is actually a Lola game, but I cheated and put a Marylin hardtop on it. Backglass is still Lola and still has the Lola eprom. As for Marilyn vs Lola eprom, I haven't done any research yet on code levels but I would guess the same as you about Lola possibly being further along w/ updates than Marilyn. I'll need to look into that.
Thanks! I did a file diff between both eproms Lola-Marilyn. The sound eproms are 100% equal. So I think the best thing is to put a Lola eprom in a Marilyn to get the least bugs. As the sound eproms are equal, i’m sure they don’t shout Marilyn or Lola. :)
@@hopje01 interesting. Yeah, come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything in the sound track that would be Lola or Marilyn unique. Makes sense on the game rom though with using the Lola version.
Hey I got a question. In 21:12 you hit a multiball and how did you get this „pacman“ sound by hitting hit? I also have a Taxi Pinball but on mine it only plays the bell and also on joy ride…? How did you get that sound instead of the bell? I have already talked to others but they also have only the bell sound. Could you explain what you did on there? Thanks! :))
Go into the adjustments through the service switches on the coin door. Adjustment 45 is ‘Bell use’. This turns off the bell, but in place of it makes the additional sounds. Hope that helps!
Now I see you are from Lexington, so I’m assuming it was. I chatted with you on Facebook a little bit about it. Beautiful machine, didn’t know you had a restoration series in it. That’s awesome. Can’t wait to watch more. Great inspiration for my taxi.
Why yes it was at LAX. Thanks for finding me on RU-vid and hope you enjoy the videos. I typically do one on each game I restore; sometimes a series. Thanks again for the comments.
