Batee.com shows you how to remove the 1990-1996 Corvette C68 HVAC Electronic Climate Control Controller module.
That's right, it only took us 20 years to get around to shooting this video. Why so long? Well, we had to save up for a car, a couple of 4K video cameras, audio, lighting, and a computer capable of editing 4K video...
Go to batee.com/coll... for the parts needed to repair your instrument panel.

the 2 screws holding in my vent were Torx T10, not Phillips 1994 C4

The metal clips are pretty miserable to go back in, not sure if the previous radio installed wrecked them or what but it took me about an hour of finesse. Appreciate the video I owe you a beer!

Hey Bryan, Thanks for the video! It provided me the insights on how to remove the C68... just sharing that the accessory trim piece on my 1993 had two additional screws at the bottom to be removed before I could pull the trim out of the way. To access those two screws I had to remove the center console trim first (three screws, easily accessible) which required the same socket wrench used on the accessory trim.

Brian, I'm watching this in preparation for soldering in the repair kit. Can I ask why you removed the positive battery terminal? I have always understood negative should be removed first.

Because I'm an engineer. Electrons flow backward for us (see conventional current flow). Without this, all the arrows on schematics point the wrong direction. www.physics4kids.com/files/elec_dc.html It really doesn't matter to the electronics which gets removed first. The people who say to remove the negative first because they assume that while the ratchet is on the positive terminal, you might short the ratchet to a ground. No matter which terminal you remove first, it is possible to short the ratchet to the other terminal battery terminal or something that presents the same electrical potential, so there's some small risk either way. We assume that people will be careful. No amount of safety precautions can protect a person who doesn't exercise some degree of caution when working.

@@crazyuncleburton ive never understood the removal of the negative, cuz if that touched the frame, wouldnt it ground and create a circuit anyways, like all the other grounds to the body? but if the positive is removed and it touches the frame, it doesnt create a circuit and nothing happens. am i wrong?
