Released in 1990, the Stanley Cup hologram card was randomly inserted into packs of Pro Set Series One Hockey cards. Limited to 5,000 copies, it is one of the toughest cards to find from the early 1990s.

one of my favorite cards ever, I will never forget getting this card on my 13th birthday party as a kid. It was crazy I got this card on that day after ripping open literally tens of thousands of other packs looking for this,the Reggie Auto UD put out, the Lambardi Hologram pro=set put into football packs, The Donruss Elite series,etc I never got one insert until that night and this was the 1st one I pulled #2171 Because how easy insert cards are to get today people who did not collect back then can't even possibly imagine because of the surplus of product how damn hard it was to get a insert card like this, You could literally rip open case after case after case and not find one. Even the Donruss Elite cards that all had a print run of 10k were almost impossible to find back then. Unlike today when you came across a insert card back then it truly was rare !

@@nascarvintage17Looking at your name (NASCAR vintage) what's funny is as a kid,even today I hardly ever collect or buy any race or NASCAR cards (only a few packs here and there or singles to get them autographed) . But like I said every now and then I would buy a few packs. Why ripping open some of The 1991 Vette Set cards I pulled my 2nd rare insert. The Mario Andretti signed card out of 2500 😂🤔 It's actually a very beautiful card. A lot better looking than most of the rare inserts from back in the day aka early to mid 90's

i totally remember that card...the year after it was the roy mask and the falloon and neidermyer rookie cards out of 91-92....nice card!

I had something like 3-5 of these. I sold them and other alike new ones from the set for good money that same year. I am regretting I didn't hang onto them all...

I gave my son one when he was born. Still has it in mint condition. It was sealed less then 10 minutes after opening it and has never been out of it's case. So you will have to settle for 4998, as I don't think he will see you his.

as a side note, his mother and I also included an unopened box, so he may have a second hologram. The box is still unopened.

What are the odds of getting one of these.....i mean there were only 5000,and there must have been millions of box sets that year

Any numbered auto or rare insert from the junk wax era (early & mid 90's), even the donruss elite numbered to 10k you got better odds of getting hit by lightning 3x over then pulling one! When Upper Deck started it all off with the Reggie Jackson auto numbered to 2500 in it's 1990 high number series. The owner of my local card shop ripped open 20 cases and got shit 😂 Even the Donruss elite series that were numbered to 10k were almost impossible to pull. What's crazy is each year I think they had 10 players in the Elite set, one legend card numbered to 7500 and an autographed legend card numbered to 5000 ( that's 112,500 cards) and I saw people open multiple 24 box cases and not pull shit! It shows you the absurd print runs during the junk wax era!
