In my opinion, pit road speed limits is one of those few things that should have been implemented at the start of NASCAR. Although from this case it seems like the brake bias contributed to wheel hop, it was reckless and irresponsible for the drivers to go 120 or so in the pits with barely covered men trying to execute their jobs. RIP Mike Ritch, whose safety innovations to pit road are sadly too innumerable to count,

The Melling Team never recovered from that day. They had one last moment of glory at Daytona in 91, and that was it.

Hard to believe this was 30 years ago. I was 18 in 1990 and had just started college. I was a huge Earnhardt fan my whole life.

Glad I can watch this race on RU-vid. I was deer hunting when this race was live. Earnhardt won the title and I got my first deer the same afternoon!

Morgan Sheppard wins the race, and Dale Earnhardt wins the championship. It was so ordinary then. You dont know what you have, until its gone !

Miami is close to the old Atlanta, but Homestead doesn't have the history of AMS.

Sad to see Childress and Roush 30 years later as mostly non-factor teams.

I am pretty sure that Ricky Rudd still feels terrible about what happened on pit road to this day. It was accidental there was nothing he could do about it. Nascar should have had a pit road speed limit from the start.
