VERY nice enhancement here. Was able to take a dark greenish picture fairly riddled with compression artifacts and bring it full circle. You can see the before/after shots here -- imgbox.com/g/Y... -- I used Topaz to clean up the garbage in the picture, to sharpen it, and to upscale to 1080p. Resolve was used to brighten the picture and tone the contrast down, and also to perform a major color correction - again, see the screenshots! I also addressed some major hiss and distortion in the audio. My thanks to Craig Stevens for providing the DVD files used for this project

After just watching the first quarter I seen about 6 penalties that would be called today. Man I miss this smash mouth football.

Watching these old 49ers games, that Mike Cofer dude seemingly was good for a miss a game. I have no idea how he lasted so long, as he was too inconsistent. I remember he missed an extra point in Super Bowl XXIV. His 1991 season was terrible and he still had a roster spot in 1993.

This is another fantastic job Dave! Are you sure you can’t perform this kind of magic on every game? Haha. I am kidding (or maybe half-kidding 😆) I understand the limitations on many of them but this & the 1981 Giant game from earlier in the week are ones where my original copies did not look very good at all. So both were very pleasant surprises ! Also great job on restoring the poor audio that was evident for much of the game So…thanks again & am very grateful for all of the content.

Hopefully not showing my 49er bias but I always thought that Bill Walsh did a very good job breaking everything down during his 3 years at NBC Actually I couldn’t be showing any kind of bias because I can definitely say that Joe Montana & Ronnie Lott were borderline disasters during their studio jobs with networks in the mid 90’s & I always found Randy Cross, and to a lesser extent, Brent Jones to be incredibly annoying during their long careers as analysts The only other Niner who did a fairly good job in broadcasting was Steve Young at ESPN. But ESPN to me when “attempting” to cover Sunday & Monday night games was always an amateur hour clown show in the studio & in the booth for the better part of 4 decades. So I almost never watched much of the pre & postgame work that Young did for a decent amount of years.

@craigstevens6693 . . . What you illustrated about some of the gridiron greats struggling with their TV gigs . . . it makes it all the more impressive when hearing Bob Trumpy doing game analysis in his first year at NBC in 1978. In the 1978 NY Jets vs Seahawks game video Dave Volsky posted, Trumpy's commentaries on the game play, with sounding at ease and very articulate, was impressive for being the third week of Trumpy's first season on-air.

@@bloqk16 great point. Trumpy actually reminded me a lot of Chris Collinsworth. Both were Bengals but I feel like Collinsworth did an excellent job from the very beginning of his career. But so much hate has been directed towards him for, maybe not as much nowadays , imo always showing tremendous honesty no matter the situation might be. I know a lot of people are annoyed by Collinsworth & maybe it is just because I’m from Pittsburgh but I always remembered how universally hated Trumpy was around here too…but as you mentioned, I always thought he did an excellent job.

Geez, I tried so hard to forget how bad of a play caller Browns Off-Coordinator Shofner was. This was painful to watch…1st down run, 1st down run, 1st down run, 1st down run, wash, rinse, repeat. It’s like he was forfeiting 1st down and only giving the offense 2 downs to play with before they had to punt. He totally tied Kosar’s hands behind his back. Pagel did a nice job but I would have liked to have seen Kosar have a chance with an actual playbook. Kosar liked to say that he liked offensive offense, not defensive offense. That’s exactly what this was…defensive offense, again painful to watch. You can also tell that Kevin Mack had lost a step by 1990, and that didn’t help matters. Three or four years earlier and that game would have been a lot different. Oh well, gotta give credit to Montana. Not his best game but he was great when he had to be.
