In August or so of 1990, Fox 32's "Nine Thirty" news program visited the gameroom at the Williams/Bally plant at 3401 N California Ave, where Steve Kordek and Python Anghelo showed the reporter some of the recent games. If you're paying attention, you'll see an Earthshaker with the sinking building.

Thanks for digitizing these. I got hired by WMS right after pinball was cut---was so sad to miss the pinball era, but happy to have an office a couple of doors down from Mr. Kordek. Great to see video of him!

Why were/are pinball machines so damn expensive? Even a pretty simple modern pinball machine designed for the home is thousands of Dollars.

And now the rights holder to that music will claim copyright on the whole clip and turn on ads and get the money, even though I don't monetize my videos specifically because I don't want ads on top of them!

Awesome to see two of my favorite pinball designers in the same video. I know Steve wasn’t very fond of Python but they played together nicely here. The interviewer really made it about himself though, didn’t he? Thanks for sharing this!

For the degenerate pinball trivia nerds out there, at :06 you can hear the very uncommon European prototype music from Rollergames (despite them showing Whirlwind's playfield).

Saying 1990 was the 60th anniversary of pinball is a bit disingenuous for the guy in the video to say. The first pinball machine was in 1931, so there's that. But really, early Pinball machines were not pinball. These were not games of skill for the purpose of entertainment, they were games of chance played for the gambling aspect. It's not the gambling part that makes them not pinball. You can gamble based on any modern pinball machine. It's the game of chance aspect. Unlike Pinball, it is not a game of skill. There is little to no skill involved. Even when the machines had flippers, they so far apart that it was just luck if you could hit the ball using the flipper.
