I was like around 13/14 years old and UNLV was my team. Loved their up tempo and pressure defense which was fun to watch. UNLV had this aura of intimidation also. I live in Denver so I got to experience the downtown festivities but visited Vegas alot when I was younger. I actually met Jerry Tarkanian in a Vegas mall and got his autograph. If the NCAA wasn't so corrupt and hated UNLV, I could only imagine the teams they would have put together. Ed O'Bannon wanted to sign with UNLV and his brother Charles, Don MacLean, Jason Kidd, Shawn Kemp, Juwan Howard all loved UNLV. I watched UNLV even after the sanctions with Isaih (JR) Rider and later Shawn Marion. Miss Tark the Shark.
Both Coach K and Jerry Tarkanian, showed tremendous class in both of their match ups between '90 and '91. This was an era of Legendary College Coaching.
Man!! 26 years I have been looking for local coverage of the UNLV celebration after winning the NCAA in '90! Thank you for this. Lived in Vegas for the first 20 years of my life, all the videos you uploaded truly are awesome.
All this time Maxson, Wynn and Frinfrock were planning Tarks downfall. Nice to see the footage of Maxson and Wynn. Just makes it more heartbreaking what would happen just a year later. Still smh all these years later. Thanks for this awesome post of Tark Era Rebel History !
No stupid handshake line. Just opponents hugging each other and shaking each other's hands out of respect. Like the NFL. College basketball needs to dump the handshake line. It's totally fake.
