I met George Lindsey the same year this was filmed. He was wearing his Goober hat and joked about "Judy-Judy-Judy!". I will always remember his smile and contagious laugh.
Don Knotts talked about how people would send him bullets. I was a member of the Raleigh police department years and years ago. My first day on the job I was assigned a desk in back, there was nothing in this desk except one hollow nose bullet. I immediately thought I got Barney’s Fife’s desk, when he went to Raleigh.
I live in High Point,NC. Had no clue Thelma Lou lived in My,Airy. If I had I would have tried too meet her. Loved her on on the show.I did hear she had her purse snatched from her whole out and about however.. It was on the news, and that's when I found out she lived in Mt Airy. I hope she is with the Angles in heaven.
@25:32..."sometimes a bit *scatalogical* . It may have been disheartening to much of the audience, who were most likely from a Southern Baptist background. Actors using "expletives" _in real_ life, as opposed to _reel_ life, may have shattered the *TAGS* image a bit.
Ernest T. Bass was a delightful character. Of course they all were and it was a great show. I consider myself lucky to have been able to grow up watching it every week and in reruns.
My God...look how far the morals, christian belief, respect for each other along with the fall of quality tv/movie content....when you watch this it makes you want a time machine.
That was true. However, Andy Griffith was a Democrat and he voted for Barack Obama. He and Ron Howard both endorse them and they both hated Trump. He was nothing like what he played on his show
personally I think it was a bit snobby for Andy to NOT show up for this reunion...even if he was shooting episode ?Matlock etc...he could have done a video...Ron Howard also..? either way I loved seeing them all !!!
They should have had this special on CBS. But seeing who were not there (Andy Griffith and Ron Howard), I can understand why it was relegated to cable.
I remember Andy saying that the show was set like in the 1930s even though it was in the 60s. When I have problems dealing with the Wicked Ways of this world I always turn to the Andy Griffith or the Dick Van Dyke Show for a peaceful salvation..
I have to dissaggree with Betty Lynn, juanita did make a cameo on the show, not directly in the cafe or with Barney!! Juanita is in episode season 1 episode 13 as mayor Pikes daughter, she sings a song welcoming the hollywood producer. Now the last name discrepancies Juanita beasly is also Goobers original last name before Pyle. Josie Lloyd, between 1961 and 1965, appeared in four episodes of The Andy Griffith Show: on two occasions in 1961 in the role of Mayor Pike's daughter as both Josephine in “The Beauty Contest” and as Juanita in “Mayberry Goes Hollywood;” and in two other episodes in her most memorable role, the wallflowerish Lydia Crosswaithe. In 1962, she was cast for the first time as the odd, socially inept Lydia in "Barney Mends a Broken Heart.” "She loves the violin but hates the guitar" ❤ The character was once introduced by Andy Taylor (played by Andy Griffith) as Goober Beasley,[1] but he was referred to as Goober Pyle for most of his time on the show. Lindsey wrote a book, Goober in a Nutshell, about his experience playing Goober.[2] 0:09 0:09
