I’m a former Aegis Operations Specialist, who served as TIC/FTC in 7th fleet between 86-91 through the Gulf War as Zulu Foxtrot on datalink DSA and AAWC&R. I reported the SCUD detections by the Mobile Bay SPY-1 in Feb. 91 reported by datalink and voice to ZW and too Patriot batteries in the link who correlated and engaged them, confirming the Aegis BMD capability we have today. Mobile Bay and her crew were recognized by the Missile Defense Agency with their Pathfinder award in Jan. 2022. As I’ve taken the dive into DCS with thrust master hotas warthog, rudders, and TrackIR running on an old ASUS Core I7 with NVIDIA GTX 960M. It has 3 usb and DVD I/o and seems to work well though not on my Panasonic 3-D hdtv (accept watching your videos oddly). I plan to get a an ultrawide curved monitor soon while I continue to configure my hotas and rig. I started old school by getting the F-14B as I’m very interested in learning the air role of my surface job as a RIO. I was a qualified AIC but never got to use it other than to get the qual I was so married to AAW and datalink track coordination and management. I’d welcome any support here. The videos I’m watching don’t convey the command and reporting C2/3 environment I’m used to but otherwise I have 10 active duty years of seat time experience shipboard. I’ve particularly enjoyed your videos with Naval engagements, planning and operations too as I was heavily involved with It. Would love to see Aegis ship CIC’s in operation even on a limited scale like AAW, datalink and shipboard AIC. I built Aegis training simulations for these roles for the Navy many years for ships specs, so know of an existing front end from the console level operations. I imagine something similar could be added to DCS with similarly talented coders and SME’s… I’m hooked. So would appreciate any bones 🦴 to get me flying- even a ride or setup advice for my gear… look forward to getting to know some of you in similar situations. Thanks guys! “TIC” Starting a RU-vid channel called “The Hook Locker” for old NTDS and AEGIS operators. Veteran in Knoxville
Im a USAF 16-year 1N7 vet and a USAF R&D DOD R&D Grumman child, both my parents worked on Popeye during Vietnam from Clark AFB, and we ended up at Grumman in 72 ,so proud to be a Grumman child at the Calverton NY Top Secret base that made the F14s, so I'm excited to see you in the air Sir.
Wow, whoever made this mission (and edited the video cap!) and everyone that participated, excellent work! This was awesome to watch. Would love to see more missions similar to this, maybe even a continuation of this mission? Like pushing farther into “Kuwait”? Again, loved this video! Awesome work all!
50:50 I'm so pleasantly thrilled that I'm not the only one that makes noises when you can't hear it. Sometimes when firing Sparrows I mimic the top gun sound when they release.
Due to the absolutely obscene amount of air power employed by the allies during the initial part of Desert Storm, the ground war lasted barely much longer than this video. Also, video suggestion for Cap - Operation Desert Shield re-enactment...
all Well I have good news for you. It’s free! As long as you have a system good enough and don’t mind endlessly flying the su25 around Georgia that is. Otherwise it can get real expensive, real fast.
I was at Jeddah (flying on KC10 Tankers) when the B52G got hit by the HARM and came back in (That unit [344 Bomb Squadron] was at Jeddah in the same living compound as us, and about 10 years earlier I was in that unit as a gunner myself). The search radar on the buff is in the same frequency range as the Russian SA4 SAM systems. The HARM sheared the turret off clean. As you can bet, the Gunners weren't allowed to run their systems after that. :) As a former B52G Gunner is was rather fun to rib them about that. :P
Two British Warrior IFV's, crews and dismounts were killed by an A10-A blue on blue. During this. British Challenger tank also got the longest range kill of the conflict, 3 miles.
One of the Canadian 18.s fired an air to air missile against an Iraqui gun boat of sorts and he got big trouble coming from Ottawa .PS I helped one of the squadrons depart Germany for their posting to the Gulf ! Be Blessed
Are there no iraq maps in DCS? I am always confused as to why you guys use UAE maps to simulate the air missions of the gulf war and the 2003 iraq war.
Awesome campaign reapers! L.O. gets the M.V.P. for taking down a mig with an A-10. And also landing in the desert, jumping into an Abrams and killing 12 enemy tanks!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
AV8Bs did not take off from carriers. They took off from LHAs (the first time ever) or Al Jabil, where I was. Det H, MAG50, 5MEF. On my way home, aboard USS Tarawa, I witnessed them taking off and landing.
I was helping 416 sqdn depart Germany for the Gulf. Biggest problem was the politicians back in Canada etc. I sometimes wander how many Canadians know they have an Airforce ?
Why were the two A-10 bases < KFIA,and the Forward base at KFIA not used . I loaded weapons on the A-10 there along with A-4s , f-14s and f-16 also used this airfield
Hey I am new to your channel and really liking your video's👍. Is there any reason the United Arab Emirates was the battle area and not actual Kuwait and Iraq?
Jithin Jose Yes. The tomcats engines were so powerful that if they went full burner (I believe irl there’s like 5 stages of burner?) that it would be faster than the catapult on carrier lol
Where's our Tornados! :-( Apart from that beautiful! The night really adds a dimension! Spectacular supercarrier launches! Sexy looking Tomcats! (Edit 18:04 is that a Tornado???) (Second Edit 21:03 Yes it is!!! Didn't know there were Tornado's in DCS - over excited time!) Loved seeing the night time afterburner takeoffs and the Arleigh Burke's firing Tomahawks - very Desert Storm 1991 as i remember!
Did the Tomcats fire BVR phoenix with out ID'ing the targets? you guys need to through in Civilian planes to force people to follow RoE. Like in your PvP campaigns to keep the f-14's from just lobbing aim54. That would cut down on the aim54 spam. Make RoE and put civilian or neutral planes in.
My Tomcat had a human RIO in the back doing active IFF. Using correlation between AWACS calls, nails, and the IFF is how we made our shots. No blues or neutrals were shot down in this mission.
Join the discord(The discord minimum age limit is 16). A person must be 18 to apply. There are application windows every few months. Applicants must have: The Persian Gulf map The Supercarrier DLC 1 naval capable jet 3 other full fidelity modules When one applies, they will be asked if they have DCS experience. DCS experience is not a requirement, but having experience would help(I plan to get a few months experience before I apply).
And im sure during the 1st gulf War there were several BVR engagements because IFF was available the guy who has 6 kills in the f15 shot down an Iraqi mig29 at BVR then locked up the mig29's wingman which then returned a faulty friendly IFF squawk and he thought he had just killed a squadron mate then the aways confirmed it was mig29's not friendlies
Hi guys im from Kuwait and i know Khaled Alansari and he is one of the most known Radio Personalities in Kuwait i think he will share it on their RU-vid channel and air it on their their live stream on their app and you tube stream good job guys a big salute from Kuwait
Just wanted to confirm “there were no blue-on-blue” air engagements throughout the war according to the CNO’’s after action report of war. It also mentioned the extreme track loads observed over the gulf , where the ingress and egress lanes existed. Constant streams of aircraft and tomahawks saw the identification of over 16,000 aircraft by Bunker Hill and Mobile Bay alternating duties as FAAWC and FTC. I’m proud to have played a role in that success.
That beginning with all the low light carrier ops looked so damn good! I swear I get more enjoyment out of your videos than any of the movies I've paid for to watch in theatre!
Wow... great mission! I agree with the comments below; great flying, fantastic editing post-op, etc. This one took my 'GR-first-place-mission' spot from the '633 squadron (1964) Canyon Run'.
I was watching videos of yours showing sounds in a cockpit, they were mostly radar noises, but here in this video at 42:37 to 43:23 the guy's aircraft makes 2 strange tones. What are those noises? Will anyone help my figure out what noises those are? I really enjoy the videos a lot. I would also play DCS if the equipment and game was not so expensive. I do play Arma III and am enjoying that game a lot.
whistler right after 911 some 1 made a meme to osama bin laden that basicly was an ad for boeing aircraft it said something like dear mr bin laden i see your interest in our aircraft allow me to introdue you to some of our other models (basicly every military fighter/bomber boeing makes ) ... hope you enjoy our presentation
I’ve got to say, the historical highway of death has some pretty serious ethical questions associated with it. Then again all wars have serious ethical questions.
