@@double42 If he used all his tools he could definitely have been champ in the era he fought in. He neglected to jab and was pretty much a onehanded fighter who telegraphed his smash which left him wide open. Watch the Razor Ruddock from the Weaver fight in '86 and compare that to his efforts in the 90s its night and day. If he would have jabbed, used his right and incorporated foot movement he would of beaten Tyson in '91.
@@jakeyb25 Jacob Bolton. You're absolutely right, until 1986 he fought like an out-fighter, then he fell in love with his left smash and became a one-dimensional slugger who used his left hand excessively, excessively unbalancing himself to the left, make a still image when he launches the smash or the uppercuts against Tyson in the second fight. Holyfield would have beaten him in any year: he had all the tools to avoid or in case absorb his claims and to make him fall. I don't think he had more power than Foreman, the fact is that Ruddock overcharged his hand by putting all the power in each stroke, Tyson hit him several times without ever letting him fall.
@@Shovelhook Yeah the lurching to the left along with throwing his right upper cut from way outside left him so susceptible to counters. The knockdowns in the two Tyson fights and the Morrison fight all happened from badly telegraphing his shots. I think he had great power but committed the cardinal sin of falling in love with that power and neglecting his other tools.
Would have loved to see how Holyfield would have fought him.....remember Evander was a top notch operator who took punches from Tyson, Moorer, Foreman, Lewis and Bowe....and lived to tell the tale...
Hollyfield would have kept his head low...tossed a few bombs to get inside. .still low...and suddenly swung his head up smashing it into Roddics face. As the Razor turned...bleeds towards the reff to complain Evander would have lept forward and planted a hard left hook followed by a right hand straight into the cut area on Rudducks face. Roddick is down unable to rise while the the strangely swift reff count out Rudducks amid the protest of his helpless cornermen.
Lennox Lewis studied Ruddock. The first time Razor flicked the jab and lowered his head. Lennox popped his ass large. The fight was basically over after that.
Yeah The way he popped him with that right hand and his legs collapsed damn he looked like a vulnerable newborn colt huh it was over like the beginning of the end
