1992 BMW 325i Convertible E30 Review and Test Drive by Bill Auto Europa Naples 

This thing is immaculate. That throaty start up gave me the chills. BMW in the 80's and 90's was just pure engineering greatness

I have been in love with the e30 since I saw one in Westwood CA around 1985. It personified Southern California for me. I missed my chance to buy a good one a few years ago and I want one now more than ever.

I have a 93' last year of the E30 chassis. Gonna sell in the spring, should make a nice car for someone. New tires, brakes, rotors, top, fuel pump, timing belt, clutch and throwout bearing, tensioner, fpr, upgraded 19# E36 injectors, belts, hoses, steering rack, power steering pump, A/C compressor, tune up. Has a spare computer also, no winters no rust, very clean car. Gonna ask around $17k, the car had been in storage for the past 20 years has 102k on it, I'm the 2nd owner.

Oh man what a cool one! When I graduated high school in 91 we all went on a senior trip to the beach. I was the only one to volunteer to ride with the rich fat girl. The reason why is she had a brand new 91 e30 cab. So I got to help drive to the beach. So much fun. Emerald green with tan leather. Same wheels. I should have married that girl. Richer than ever today and thanks to advances in medicine she is rather thin now. She has long ago traded the e30 and moved on to jaguar

Haha I just had to watch this video because I was about to purchase a $6000 ‘92 325, but when I started it, it sounded much worse, and performed much more sluggish than this one. Now I know I made a good choice when I told the guy I don’t think it is running like It should, and didn’t buy. It supposedly has 65k miles. I could believe it because the outside is actually immaculate, but whoever owned it previously must of been terrible with the maintenance. It was an automatic anyways…

I always wish that the E30 M3 received a turbocharged I6, the X-Drive AWD system, a Honda or Lotus/Isuzu/Irmscher-style 4-wheel steering and a 6-speed manual.

Why? Why? Why? Why the after market radio? People who do that should never be allowed to own a classic car like this!

I have an 11/89 E30 Cabrio. I’ve restored it from ground up, same color ( gletscherblau-metallic). Tan interior great kit from eBay new, dark original blue canvas also available eBay top. 5 speed great on the winding up country roads on Maui. I’m not selling.

You might try using a dashcam when you have a car with a manual shifter instead of holding the Gopro with your right arm.That way your right arm would be free to shift and you could keep at least one hand on the steering wheel while you drive.Those are very expensive cars that you showcase and you wouldn't want to get into a car accident in one.Otherwise I really like your RU-vid videos,as they are very well done and you are quite knowledgable and articulate.

6:02 puts out 168 HP ;) I've owned 5 E30s before. Really enjoyed them, they were ahead of their time with onboard computer displays, heated seats, and everything powered with remote lock/alarm. Had a 86 326e, 88 325e and 88 325i cabrio, 89 325ix, and last one a 91 325i cabrio. Doing the timing belt is kind of a PITA but after you do them a few times you get used to it.

OMG Bill, you are in rare form on this one with the "goddamn flies" and the "horrible, insufferable people with their collars up and talk of sculling and weekends in the Hamptons…” plus this gem, "The Germans thought having a drink in your car was a little bit rude or gauche.” And “…twist these two little bastards into place.” Also, “That was just sort of a cheap add on the BMW had to do.. after the third brake light law came out… the way they put it on was something akin to a roof air conditioner on a motor home, they just kind of bolted it on there." Oh, the laughs just keep rolling, all the while I'm ogling at this absolutely beautiful E30, dreaming of the one I stupidly sold in my youth when I thought they were easy to come by. In any case, what a fun video and amazing car! Looking forward to more videos.

I had a '91 white with a black top (my top was manual) also a 5 speed. All together I had 3 E30's the last one being a convertible. These are by far my favorite generation, and I have had at least one of every generation, I now have a 4 series coupe in Estoril blue. I had an '87 coupe in this same color with blue on blue hounds tooth cloth seats, (listed as country blue on the invoice) and I still have the original window sticker $21,435. This body color is cirrus blue, a very popular color at that time.

10:06 the rear defrost works with any top as long as it’s up because it essentially shoots air at the back window from behind the seats

The rear defroster works on the cab, it uses a warm air blower instead of heated lines in the window.

Had a 91 befroe. White on tan. Loved that. It was a little slow but it still rode like a dream. Everything was so smooth and solid. Gone are the days when cars felt as solid as tanks.

I remember seeing an e30 closeup for the first time. My European friend pointed out how solidly everything on the car was built compared to my Japanese car. It was just an absolutely beautiful car too.

I actually rented one of these in Fort Lauderdale in 1991. Got lots of attention. but that might have also had something to do with the two blondes in the car and running on I 95 with the top down.
