That's what you call a real car and a real Cadillac. Not the crap they sell today.

I have had brand new Cadillacs since 2012 and I agree the quality is lackluster. The best miles a new Caddy has is 0-35,000 miles. Currently I have a CT6 and a CTS-V.
@burningblue1254
@burningblue1254 3 года назад
@@chrisreynolds2410 I admit I was a bit harsh. The old Cadillacs had room, style, class, a stage presense. The newer ones are built better and do many things much better. I have an Escalade ESV as it is the closest thing to an older Cadillac in size and room. My old business partner hada CTS-V and it was incredibly fast. Scary fast.

@@Zebra_3 I buy a new Escalade ESV every year and trade in the old one. I never spend a dime on maintenance. Not even oil changes. I always have warranty. I see in 2021 Cadillac was 26/32 on reliability. Yet the XT5 was in the top 10 most reliable cars in 2022. I find the Escalade based on a truck chassis and engine, is the way to go. I love the size and the looks. I find vehicles like women. If you don't like their looks, nothing else matters.

Beautiful car, only thing I didn't like about the 90-92 were the front door seatbelts, I owned a 91 for 15 years and drive an 88 now... same car basically except the electronic instrument cluster, and of course door mounted seatbelts... and some trim
@joe6096
@joe6096 2 года назад
You can thank the gub'ment for that stupid seatbelt system. Beginning in 1988 it was required by the feds that all cars have either seatbelts that can be automatically and permanently buckled, or a driver's airbag on the way towards making dual front airbags mandatory on all cars by 1996. So a lot of car companies went with this seatbelt design, or those automatic belts that zipped along the headliner when you started the car and unzipped when you shut it off. Which were even worse than these. Mainly due to the fact that cars that were caught in this mid-way through the government mandates were built on chassis that were not designed with airbags in mind. It's not just simply adding a steering wheel-equipped airbag. GM already had them for the Cadillac Allante and deVille/Eldorado/Seville by 1992. This chassis was engineered and designed back in 1975-77. With no airbag in mind. So it would have been complicated and expensive to retrofit the sensors, computers, and everything required for airbag operation into this chassis in 1988. So in order to comply to the federal regulations they put the seatbelts on the doors.

LoL the power trunk pull-down. He said it's a Cadillac & of course it has one. FYI no new Cadillac sedans in the US have that feature. Besides it was rather pointless I/m/o. The first thing I'd have changed is that purplish dark window tint on all applied windows. That car deserves new 💰 Ceramic tinting in a lighter shade, as it would reduce heat & UV fading better than the old "faded" stuff.

@midnitesquirldog1 I know full well the exact cost of the car new. I have an 81 vette that is perfect. It was $17,000 in 81 when average prices was $6000.00 for a car. You can sell it for whatever anyone will pay, my thoughts mean nothing. For me it would be $3500.00 another person will pay what you ask.

Frankly, the last best Cadillac was 1972. The ‘73 marked the beginning of Caddy’s decline and beatings from Benz & Beemer

The values of the 1990-92 composite headlamp Broughams have been skyrocketing over the last few years. Good condition or better will now easily sell for $20k. They are the last true American luxury sedan, with full frame, V8, traditional luxury and no cheap plastic. Even the 1993-96 replacement Brougham has cheap plastic interiors and less formal, more bulbous and rounded design. So no, it is NOT a $3500 car all day long. Maybe that could be your down payment to your bank for the loan on it if that's all you can afford. Otherwise, step aside - your opinion means nothing here because you have no clue about this car or what you're talking about. Go back to your Honda Civic.

Is 70 000 miles too much? Are you aware that many modern cars can go 200 000 miles without any major issues?
