What a match!!!! Medium intensity from start to middle, then a strong climax in d last 20 minutes .Back in 92 in the male students Central hall, Kongo campus, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, northern Nigeria we were so relieved for the vengeance against Cameroon who was our nemesis in 1988 and 1989 wcq. Sleek football by both teams. Rather prophetic of AFCON 2004 q final in the manner we beat Cameroon...freekick by d playmaker, surging solo goal by the striker, Ekpo/ Okocha and Yekini/ Utaka. Funny fate.
I live literally next to this Stadium in Senegal, I still remember when it was built and this AFCON 92 and we lost our first game against a strong Nigerian side, with Yekini, Siasia, Keshi, etc...
Nigeria is a team which might be the first African team to win the world Cup. They start small but when they build momentum, they are difficult to beat.
Ref always favour Cameroon against Naija, that wasn't a penalty. Same issue happened in '88, a legit goal cancelled for offside. Same happened in 2000. Was it the Issa Haouyotu factor?
Ref doesn't favour, they might make mistakes, which can happen. It doesn't depend on Hayatou because he was not appointing referees anyway. In 1988 before the Mwosu goal unjustly disallowed there is a clear penalty and fault because Rufai did not touch the ball but fault Milla who stay on the floor for at least 3 min. So you have to remove the biased. In 1988 Cameroon team was clearing better as it demonstrated they reached 1990 WC quarter-final. In 1992 the Nigeria team was better.
@@stephanendem6641 Reaching quarter final in 1990 doesn't mean they were better in '88...at least that match didn't show they were better. They ought to have won without ref bias or mistake or what you want to call it. And why did ref always make mistake when it comes to Naija vs Cameroon? And the mistake favoured Cameroon? And this happened when Issa was the CAF President. Once, I understand. But 3 times is more than coincidence. And to add, CAF appointed those refs. And who was the caf president?
This Nigerian team was much better and comfortable than 1994 team, too much on professional referees that period, worst stadium ever, Yekini played very well here, one of the best players here is Mutiu Adegbodu, number 15, i just don't like nigeria coach, my problem with them is there selections and bribery it is very disgusting .
You're right on the corruption thing. His name is Mutiu Adepoju. But i will disagree with you that this team was better. 1994 was more mobile and robust. A little solid in midfield which made the offense very potent and prolific. Both teams are good in their own right.
Nchenge Eyong why do you even dignify this with a response... its no use... internet trolls are dumbs and its better to not get involved with such one. If you pay soccer with Africa... like Africa is a boy living next door... see what I mean by being dumb?
