HI I have a 400ss so same tank from looking at it to your 900. I need to reline the tank as it has a bit of rust coming up. I wanted know can you simply unscrew the reserve pump under the tank and remove it. My guess has been that due to one cylinder fouling occasionally that a bit of rust may be getting through the line to the primary jet. I am also going to fit a fuel filter to the main line. Can I ask do both fuel lines go to each carb separately? Any help appreciated. The bike has been totally rebuilt except for that rotten tank.
I am not clear on the 400ss tank. I put a picture on the community tab with the hose diagram. On this one, there is an electric fuel pump inside the tank. The big nut on the bottom will unscrew. To reline, the fuel cap assembly will need to come off, the fuel pump, fuel level sending unit. You'll need to work some smaller hoses inside all the fuel and vent bungs so as not to clog them. The fuel lines, from the valve is out to carbs. Next is fuel return, then fuel drain. From fuel out, mine has the Y splitter. One hose to the carbs. The other to fuel return. The one hose to the carbs fills both. Good luck with your build
Thanks for the video. Can I ask what the final (3rd) hose was that you fitted to the underside of the fuel tank? Mine doesn’t have a hose connected to it and I’m wondering if I should be concerned! Thanks, Rob
So glad people like you are out there making these videos. They are so helpful. Thank you! So it could have a pipe on it but it doesn’t matter too much if it hasn’t?
Ever put carbs on an 80s Suzuki GS 650? Absolute nightmare. I'm going from an 87 Hurricane 600, to the 900ss. It's amazing how easy it is to get to everything on the Duc!
