Monster truck racing is missing this kind of drama and excitement. On shows like Monster Jam everyone is best friends now and just plays nice. Back in these days when it was smaller teams or privateers they really were going to war every show.
Real competition..... Real motorsport back then. People owned and built their trucks Now is entertainment... now is mass produced like nascar's. Nothing unique that was so cool back then.
Monster Jam is a circus, not a sport. Several former MJ drivers have said as much. If you wanna see wild jumps, Meents, or the Andersons (all perfectly entertaining and valid) go to Monster Jam. If you want classic PENDA style street fights with crush cars and independents with the modern bonus of round tracks and freestyle, Monster Truck Throwdown is your ticket.
It's because on the Penda series they were racing for money. There were just as many friendships back then but as soon as you put money up for grabs everyone takes it far more seriously. Nowadays everyone gets show pay regardless of how well they do.
Don't see what Sailor Moon has to do with Monster trucks myself. Still a cool bit of trivia. Makes me want to see Monster Jam or somebody debut a Sailor Moon themed truck.
