This was the BEST of Ringos all star bands, by far! What a line up, Walsh, Rundgren, Lofgren, Schmidt!. Incredible musicians and talents... Saw this show in Phoenix...
This was an amazing tour. Also on stage is Todd Rundgren (wearing overalls), next to him Timothy B. Schmidt, in the sunglasses Niles Lofgren, next to Joe is Dave Edmunds and on keyboard Burton Cummings.
I had my hack career high-light when my band, Mamas Pride opened for them in St. Louis in 1992. Ringo liked us enough to fire the act he had booked for Kansas City and take us along. They said we played for over 50,000 people in those 2 shows. Rumor was he wanted to take us to Red Rocks, near Denver, but Mamas Pride had commitments and couldn't go. A couple of years earlier, 1990? I had recorded Dave Edmonds for Budweiser and during sound check he recognized me and was very friendly, as all of them were. Walsh was hilarious back stage.
Some forget Joe was in The James Gang - loved that band! - who did this song and who was a Beatle and who wasn't...lol Ringo always seems to put together a great line up. I haven't been disappointed so far and can't imagine that ever happening. Each unique and special... Love you, Joe (and Ringo!)
In June,1992, this tour came to Summerfest in Milwaukee. They actually plated this song better in Milwaukee. But I can't remember seeing Dave Edmunds at the Summerfest gig. If anyone can confirm that he was playing tgat night, please let me know. Thanks
@Jellogel- Joe definitely did sound like he was inebriated, I'm sorry to say. His performance of "Rocky Mountain Way" with the '02 version of the All-Starr Band was WAY better than this one! Joe sounded completely clear and coherent in that one!!
