I was lucky enough to be a spectator on alpeduez that day----I'd gone over with a firm called sporting tours ----run by Graham baxter I think 🤔 road from valloire and did the galibier from the opposite side from were the tdf guys came over then alpeduez. I was reasonably fit at the time through regular mtb rides but not road race fit. But suffice to say it was a tough 70 miles in 30c plus heat 😊.
