Excited to see how simple this looks with guidance! I will re-post and let you know how my 1994 climate control bulb replacement and radio install went in a few days.
Helpful video, thanks. I was trying to find out if I needed a dash-kit (plastic spacers) to mount a single-DIN unit in my '97 DX. Like you, I didn't. Cheers!
I bought a '96 Corolla in July & already came with a kenwood head unit, that head unit was an issue cause I got no sound at all (no matter what I did) so I went to a nearby pawn shop & found a JVC head unit (same exact thing just the ports are on opposite sides) & I got sound factory speakers were already blown so I got some cheap aftermarket speakers at walmart now I'm thinking of getting a walmart kicker sub (single 10") with a built-in amp (300w max) but it'll cost $200
How long did this job take? Wondering if the quote of 3-4 hours I was given is accurate. $300-$400 for install seems a bit extreme to me, or is that pretty average for this job? I have a 97' toyota Corolla, the am works but not the fm, so I was advised to get a new stereo and install that.
Great tutorial...easy to understand.... Think you could also do a full system upgrade with amplifier and subwoofers for a corolla? That's my current project for my car
@provobeastaudioistallation. Got the screws out of factory issue fujitsu 10 stereo but cant get it far enough forward to disconnect everything on the back. Do u have any idea whats going on?,could wires be trapped behind the heater control panel?,or is there something i'm missing? Btw my car is r.h.d 🇦🇺 model & its all the same except for the location of the plugs for the demister/hazzard lights please help😳🤯
the power supply that my camry 1992 is a pin. like those earphone ends. How can i connect and use that to power up the new radio replacement? Please help
I'm 16 and I will be starting to drive soon, can I do this easily? it looks pretty straight forward but will i ruin anything or break anything? I just wouldn't want to break the car
Is it the remote turn on wire? A blue and white cable? If so, it's used for an external amplifier. Or if you have a power antenna, you can hook it up to that.
It may be hard to see from the video, but there really isn't a gap. Since this was a direct replacement, there really isn't a good kit available. The factory trim completely fills all around the pioneer used in this video. Hopefully that helps.
bought a harness for camry 1992 and connect the harness that comes with the pioneer radio. after connecting all the colors, and plugged it in the in dash female connector. smoked came out and heat sink became super hot..any idea what i did wrong? thanks
Hey dude i bought my first car today and im goining to change the radio to PIONEER MVH-180UI or Pioneer DEH-1700UB, but im not sure does it fit there, it's 1993 corolla, xli model. :)
question i connected all the wires it works i tryed putting everything back and my single din stereo is to big to fit where the original stereo was what should i do
+Jdm NakMuay Typically a single din fits. You may have to shave off part of the dash bezel around the radio to get it to fit. Or get a different radio.
Tips: 1. Re-check all your wire connections to ensure proper connectivity. 2. Check your fuse box located inside your vehicle. The box itself will have a radio fuse. If it is blown, then the radio will not receive power. 3. If the top two are correct, and there is power to the stereo, but the stereo is still not on, check the stereo at another power source to eliminate the variable of either the vehicle having the issue, or if the stereo is bad itself.
Where can I find the wiring harness? I only have the one that comes with my radio. I need one to connect to the Corollas old radio wiring. Please help!
owned2hell To get the correct wiring harness for my deck, I went to Crutchfield.com and entered my vehicle into the website, then added the deck I was purchasing (from Amazon for a bit less $$) into the shopping cart. The correct wiring harness for my vehicle was in the shopping cart, so all I had to do was find the make and model on Amazon's page. After I bought my deck, I did go back to Crutchfield and purchase four new speakers.
owned2hell Oh ya, another thing to remember is that when you buy the wiring harness, you'll still need to physically solder or use butt connectors to connect the correct wires together. You'll want to buy about 15 butt 16-18 gauge connectors and a crimping tool if you don't already have them. The wiring harness should come with a color code (purple/black wire for rear speaker left (+), etc.), so be careful to correctly match the wire color chart in the new radio's manual to the wiring chart for the new cable harness.
owned2hell Just tape them off. Occasionally some aftermarket radios only don't support illumination or dimmer. In that case, those are the orange wires on the wiring harness adapter. Just tape those off, ensuring they don't touch. Keep in mind if you don't take off the orange wire, when you put your lights on and the wire grounds, you will blow fuses. Other common wires are the solid blue wire which is your power antenna wire. Frequently, if your radio doesn't have that, just tie it in with the ignition wire or the blue/white wire on the radio. These same principles apply to the radio harness. If they are not supported on the aftermarket harness adapter, just tape them off. Hope this makes sense and helps you out!
+The Lyrical B you can hard wire in your new radio by cutting out the Toyota factory harness connector and looking up the factory colors to directly connect your new radio harness to the exposed Toyota wiring. But, really, it's not advised, as you can pick up a Toyota harness adapter as shown in the video for only a few bucks.
+The Lyrical B You can't go wrong with Pioneer. The DEH-150MP is the basic radio with AUX and CD for around $50 on amazon. The DEH-X2800UI includes also a USB for about $65. The DEH-X4700BT or DEH-X4800BT includes Bluetooth and is the best value with all features around $85 on amazon. Prices always change tho, but honestly you get what you pay for in Car Audio components. Hope this helps
Which trim? the Toyota dash bezel or the trim piece that came with the pioneer? The trim piece that came with the pioneer will not fit under the Toyota dash bezel, so it is necessary to remove it. The Toyota dash bezel fits right over and around the new radio.
Make sure the wiring is out of the way, stereo is fully seated, and take the face plate off while putting on the dash bezel around the radio. Once it is on, then reinstall the stereo face plate.
I picked it up at Walmart for around 10 dollars. However, Best Buy sells them, or may different varieties of online resellers. When you purchase the wiring harness, be sure it is compatible to your vehicle. Here is an example of one on Amazon for this Vehicle: www.amazon.com/Metra-70-1761-Wiring-Harness-Speaker/dp/B0002BEQJ8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1411964805&sr=8-1&keywords=1996+toyota+corolla+wiring+harness
Sounds like a wiring issue. 94 models did not have a factory amp option, so that wouldn't be the issue. sounds like you have a bad radio, fuses, or wiring issue. I would start removing variables on what the issue would be by using a different radio, different harness, using a volt meter, etc.
All vehicles featured on this channel are customer vehicles. So the next time I have time to film another Corolla install, I will. I do have a Camry speaker replacement video on the channel which can provide similar guidelines for the replacements.
2018 the problem i encounter is everynthing is working following the instructions in the video turn on the key and everything works fine but when i start the engine a noise from the speakers came whinning anyone encounter it and fix it?
Wow thanks for the response didnt expect you reply to my comment my only question now is any recommendation about the wire im going to use or just a regular wire will do for fhe grounding? Should it be ground to the body or can i screw it to the back of stereo would it work?
