@@TubbaTubba-em2tmshe was actually first in the preliminary. She lost some ground and came in fifth during the semis. Once she was in the final 3, she surged forward and won the crown.
Personally, I don't see what the hype over Kenya was, and still don't see it after all these years. I was even more confused about Kansas making it, I didn't like her at all. This was definitely a year where I kind of shook my head at half the semi-finalists. I was pulling for Hawaii and Pennsylvania and was torn between which one I liked more. I thought both would have made an excellent Miss USA. Georgia was pretty, but too much of the over prepared pageant girl.
In the end when Kenya won and was sitting on her throne Miss USA 1988 that was hosting she did not even have the dignity to go over and congratulate her. Such an ass.
The judges were keeping score. If it were up to Moll and Pride she definitely would have lost. Both of them seem to not like her. Thankfully the other judges stepped up in areas where those too fell short.
