After marching snare line 1982, 1984 and 1994 I'd have to say that this night was the best drum corps memory ever...still can't watch without balling...I miss it so much.

Was up around the right 40 yard line in the sands for this show. Watching my Stepfather Bill Fancy and then wife my Mother preform with you all down on the field. It was a glorious night for 27. You all did steal this show.

I was in attendance this nite in old Foxborrow stadium. 27th reunited with 275 horns, and some other ungodly numbers of drums and guard, it was goose bump city. Bleu Raeders 1972

I can't believe that the same feeling I get now when seeing 27th is the same that I had back in 79 and the early 80's. It just feels great to get a dose of 27th at anytime. I still believe that 27th should have won DCI in 1980, but it was 2nd place to BD. Thanks 27th for enhancing my drum corps experience back in the day and even now more than ever. Peace to all.

1980 was one heck of a championship. There was only .8 separating Blue Devils, 27th Lancers, Bridgemen, and Spirit of Atlanta. Any of those 4 could've won it that night. I was really pulling for 27th and Spirit, the 2 corps that really took my breath away that season; 27th's visuals and Spirit's hornline. I really miss those days.

Working with BAC's brass line in '94 I had seen 27 practice a couple of times and was very impressed, but was totally unprepared for the absolutely MONSTER performance at Foxboro that night. Simply blown away. I've seen a lot of alumni corps, and worked with more than one, but besides the Anaheim Kingsmen performance a few years back, it's hard to imagine an alumni corps surpassing this job. Charlie Poole is a legend, almost a drum corps god. Jim Wedge's music has thrilled audiences since (at least) 1970 with the Classical Gas arrangement, plus they originated the high powered visual shows that came to be the earmark of DCI, between Ralph Pace, George Zingali (greatest of all times, IMO), and Mark Silvester. Amazing performance by an amazing legacy of greatness.

This group was THE inspiration for the Kingsmen Alumni Corps becoming a reality in 2005. We had a Kingsmen reunion in August of 2005 and at an after-party this video was shown. That was the beginning.

I can remember sitting in the stands that night as i watched the 27 come the staring line the goose flesh started rise as the show progressed siting next my friend; both of marched in the 70s; all we could do was say ..my god yes they are going to do it... by Danny Boy the tears were flowing.27 was one of my favored corps and on this night all paled DCI 94 Boston was about the ...27....this was the highlight of the week and was worth the trip to just 27!

#1 of my bucket list: invent a time machine and go back to that night. I was not able to get there to witness this performance. At least seeing this video can bring some idea of how wonderful and special it must have been to see it, as an old drum corp dude who fondly remembers watching (and competing againts) the 27th Lancers way back when.

I was in the Colorguard 1968 St Patricks Imperials Even then I was fascinated watching the 27 the lancers. the rifle's line was absolutely one of the best. The drumline superb.... Danny Boy always made me cry..... The Colorguard so disciplined... Thank you for showing it brings back so great memories.

I was just in my late teens early twenties from 76 - through the end. Recently I watched a video of the 72 Legion prelims - I had never seen the corps before 1976 - so this was a key to the history of 27th. I just watched 79 and 80 before the alumni show came on. I just sobbed. It reminded me of my youth and how much, though I was never a member, the corps meant to me. Always loved the music selection, hornline and drum lines outstanding and my favorite - that color guard. Also the years of Zingali! I miss this corps and wish someone would bring them back. The sad part of that is, for them to come back, they would have to make the changes that would keep them competitive with today's drum corps. No matter, whenever I hear Danny Boy - I think of the wheeling company front and that push to the end. They may be gone, but they will never be forgotten. Thank you to all the members who marched and are proud to be Lancers!

Somebody should start bringing back old school, drum and bugle Corp. Forget about DCI marching band garbage. More people will start attending competitions again. Real Drum and bugle Corp, no longer exist, thanks to DCI. It's about time we start taking back, what belongs in this country, our history Our Heritage and support of the American flag. Former member of the Floyd Bennett golden eagles from Brooklyn New York 1960 and 1961. After I turn 21 oh, that's right after I turned 21, I joined the Long Island Sunrisers 1964 through 1968.

Everytime I watch this I get chills and choked up. I wasn't there, don't know anyone who marched and was never fortunate enough to march with a DCI level corps but it brings back such great memories of when I marched in a junior corps. I get emotional every time I see this. Saw it that year when it was broadcast to locations around the country. I saw it at Hofheinz Pavillion, home of Phi Slamma Jamma, the darlings of college basketball. The crowd went nuts with 27, and I still do. Maybe the most electrical performance I've ever seen. I did band all through college. My idea of heaven is strapping on your drum on a fall afternoon to work on the next show with more friends than you will ever count for the rest of your life.

I remember seeing this show broadcast to locations around the country. I saw it at Hofheinz Pavillion, home of Phi Slamma Jamma, in Houston. The crowd at the show was going nuts and so were we. There were great alumni shows to come-but this one set the standard. And I envy them that unlike most of us marching musicians down the years, they got the chance to give it one more go. My last go was the 1970 Sugar Bowl. We were on the field before the game, at halftime, and after the game. I still regret not breaking formation somewhere that day and shaking hands with my mates for whom this was the last call. ("Last call" is appropriate considering the fact that 27 modeled themselves in British military tradition)

I marched with 27 I. 78 and 79. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to be a part of this. A friend who participated I. This great experience was telling me about the rehearsals and said, “some of these bastards were trying to win Nationals that year”. Both funny and a testament to the competitive spirit that was in every Lancer. Always strive to be great.

Somebody. Anybody. Please restart this legendary Drum Corps. After all these years the Guard- no drops in during the drum feature, the legendary rifle line was still legendary, perfect as usual.... The Hornline, even with a mix of g bugles and e flat horns they still are as powerful. Bring them back to DCI. The drumline, still as powerful as when I watched them years ago. My Congratulations to all the Lancer Family who were able to make the time to participate in what had to have been a historic Reunion and performance ( I would have loved to see the rehearsal footage....how do you reset drill sets with 230 people?) As Alumni performances go, this was the best Alumni performance I've ever had the chance to see, especially after being away from the activity over ten years while on active duty overseas.

It was THIS VIDEO that convinced me to try to play in the Bridgemen Alumni Corps, when they came back to the field in 2006 for the first time since folding. I saw these guys doing it "just one more time", and I knew I had to try !!!!!!! I had NO drum corps experience, but extensive band experience and 2 years as a music teacher. Woodwind player, but I could get some rudimentary brass chops, so I borrowed a baritone to practice and went to Bayonne. I expected to hear one or two screamers and the rest of the Bridgemen were pretty mediocre. Could not have been more wrong !! They COOKED !!!! I played 4th bari/5 note range, but I had the time of my life ! I will be forever grateful to George Lavelle bringing me in for a true "bucket list" moment. I GOT TO WEAR THE YELLOW COAT !!! How cool is that ????!?

You're exactly right...if you look back and see how many Corps were active in the North East in the 50's through the 80's, and compare it to now, it's amazing there is still DCI. DCI must reach out to the communities and try to foster development for the activity. Hey, Little league teams do it, soccer teams do it, Drum Corps at the open class level should be helped in development.

Group is mix of alumni & family members, former instructors/staff, membersof other corps who'd been previously instructed either by Lancer staff or by former Lancers, and a few "guest-friends" who wished they'd had a chance to march when the 27th lancers were still operating. Prior to the DCI Finals at Foxborough, the whole group spent nearly two years (from 1992) rehearsing, and marching in parades and exhibition. So, as far as everyone was concerned 2 yrs of involvement made them "members."
