This is a 1994 demonstration video showing some of the animations that were created with Imagine 3D software from Impulse Inc. It originally started on the Amiga as Turbo Silver and then migrated to the PC. The software ceased development sometime in 90s, but it was a strong competitor to 3d Studio and Lightwave back in the day.
The general idea was to bring 3D animation capability to the common man and for a time it sold of the shelf in computer and book stores. Sadly all development stopped sometime in the mid 90s. The chief architects were Mike Halvorson and Zack Knutson. Both have since moved onto other ventures.

The music is from the MORTAL COMBAT CD by Orbital

I found an obit for Mike Halvorson.MICHAEL HALVORSON Feb. 9, 1951-Oct. 7, 2015 Michael Charles Halvorson lost his battle with kidney disease and diabetes Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015. Michael and his wife, Denise, moved to Las Vegas, from Minneapolis in 1998 and was happy to have his sons and two of his brothers join him in the new community. His "bigger than life" personality fit right in. He was lucky to have a life of many colors. As a young man, he taught theatre for Hill Murray High School in St. Paul, Minn., and spent many years in community theatre, moving on to the computer and software arena. He was a pioneer in the software industry, introducing many important programs in the area of 3D design, like Imagine, Illusion and, most recently, for the 3D printing world, Eureka. From 2007--2012, Michael was the head coach for the Las Vegas Demolition, a semi-pro football team owned by Mike Jr. The unlikely pastime became a passion for him. He coached the Demolition to two league championships and one national championship. In 2011, he was honored with a Coach of the Year award by the WWFL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Velva Oleta Wright and Vernon Charles Halvorson. He is survived by his wife, of 41 years, Denise Zezza Halvorson; their two sons, Alan Stocker and his partner, Brynn Streiker, and Michael Halvorson Jr., and his wife, Katie; grandchildren, Phillip, Jaxsen, Lacey, Piper and Aksel; brothers, Arville, and his wife, Bonnie, Larry and his wife, Becky, and James and his wife, Lyn; in-laws, Nancy, Robert and Jack Zezza; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. Mike dearly loved his four-legged kids, too, and always had a house full. There will be a celebration of Michael's life 2-5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, outdoors in the gardens, at the home he loved so.

Wow, brings back great memories. I started using Imagine in 1993. Starting with building rendered mazes and dungeons inspired by AD&D Eye of the Beholder (remember that Amiga classic?). Although I'm using Windows 10 these days, the only time in my life I was truly happy and in awe of the digital creative industry was during the Amiga heyday. Those were glorious times rife with possibility with fantastic community support.

@cubdukat
@cubdukat 8 лет назад
Same reason almost everybody else who developed for the Amiga market stopped developing for them: the PC was just coming into its own, and the Amiga market was rapidly disintegrating. It started with Newtek and Lightwave, and it just grew from there. Once Impulse came out with the PC version of Imagine, it was all over for the Amiga. I don't even think they followed through on a PowerPC-compatible version. Impulse didn't last very long on the PC market, though. They found there was even less of a market for them on the PC than there was on the Amiga. Everything was dominated by Lightwave. They didn't really get any kind of serious competition at that price point until Cinema4D for the PC showed up.

I have been looking for an early CGI short animation since my childhood and so far I haven't found it. So, I'm wondering if anyone in the comments has seen it and/or has it: It's an action story where a group of knights with chess piece-looking helmets try to storm a castle with a wizard inside. The wizard summons a big, bug like monster with claws. The monster fights the knightas and decapitates them with its claws. The last shot is a knight raising his sword into the air and lightning striking it. If anyone has any info on this video, you would make my childhood extremely happy.
