After the first epoxy primer the real bodywork begins. Lots of sanding, body filler, sanding again... At some point it looked all spotty and messy again, but at the end we sprayed the second epoxy and TADAAAAA.... She is one color again, but the panels look straight and smooth this time. Onto the next step... block sanding and polyester primer...

White is always a great colour against heavily restored bodywork. Looks great!

Wow, that looking really nice. White definitely suits the car. The amount of work needed can't be underestimated. Well done so far to you both.

Wow! That car has taken on a new life, or you two have given it a new life! I'm usually not big fan of white cars, but the Miata will wear the new pain proudly. Thanks for another interesting update!

No one can say you don't give enough of your time to your son. It's amazing how much he has learned and grown during this journey you have been on together. I have said it before but the life lessons here, like reaping what you sow and commitment to carry on when it looks impossible are priceless, not to mention the skills he is learning from a supremely talented auto restorer are skills for life. He is going to have a very safe, solid and desirable first car, that you know you are going to be able to trust him with ('cos he's not going to want to damage it). Father and son time at his most impressionable life period!

If you are looking for ideas on improving your spray booth setup for when you start painting, UPbuild has just released a video on painting their MX5 in a homemade spray booth with filters, extraction and heating.

White is the best option when starting at bodywork. It hides flaws more than any other colour.

I'll bet that getting a little color on your GT6 will feel really great and inspire you again. There's something about stalled projects that makes me feel sad inside, and I've found that doing something visual with them, or checking something off the list always makes me feel a bit better.

Looking very good! Also think painting the GT6 would be a great idea, then the last really major hurdle is out of the way and the thousands of smaller jobs that you’ll need to do for reassembly are easier to fit in to a few spare hours here and there.

You got me wondering what color Nick has decided to paint it. I was never much for the green... and the "arrest-me" red is just asking for trouble... Have you told us, and I missed it?

White? Seriously? That's is MY favorite color for a vehicle. I just thought that it's too much camouflage for Canada... blends too much into the snow and people won't see you. But I'd still do it.

With this car, I think a light blue might work well.

The car looks good in white color, better than the green bevor and better than red, but it´s Nicks decision what color he want. I hope the rims get a new paint too,not black.

It’s Nick’s decision on what colour he wants on the wheels, teenagers do seem to like black I find.
