One memory I have that season was driving though Ohio to visit my GF in Pittsburgh around Thanksgiving. You could pick up the John Cooper radio show throughout the state; I could flip the channel from one to another as I drove. At the time of this show there was the possiblity of Ohio State getting national champion votes. Anyway, a caller is asking Cooper about the likely UF Nebraska matchup - maybe hoping UF loses to FSU or Arkansas and then beats Nebraska, clearing the way for Ohio State (I honestly don't remember what the caller was thinking, other than that he wanted UF to beat Nebraska). What I do remember is Cooper's reaction - he chuckled and said there is no way Florida will beat Nebraska. I think in subsequent comments Osborne thought Colorado was the best team they played that year. That was a different era of football when good SEC teams were at times overmatched.
whut the hell. And CO had a 1st yr coach. Look at 1st coaches records in general. They do very poorly. Even Saban has had at least 4 losses in his 1st year in 3 of his 4 stints.
@@sorney98 hey idiot. You have frequently referred to Saban commenting about Neb being the greatest team he ever faced. Really? In both those games, he scored (10 and 14). What about the bowl game as against Stanford where Stanford won 38-0. If Osborn was the greatest he ever faced, would Tyrone Willingham be like #2 or 3. Please argue that Tyronie was great, you complete fool.
@@robjohnson8861 hey dumba$$, I don't have to argue since you're the one that said it lol. But hey again Saban is the one that said Nebraska was best ever faced. Sorry can't accept it loser.
You know when a 65 year old is calling a defensive player “the man”, that the kid can play. Terrell Farley never lost a single game he played at Nebraska in 2 years.
Their conference alone had three other 10 win teams they played! Colorado,KState,Kansas all finished 10-2 in 95! The Big 8 went out with a bang their final year as a conference.
@@CoreyT127 Oh god, stupidity abounds. the 1st day of 95, Oz's schedule looked like this. 5 - 1st year coaches 4- losing coaches at the school they were currently coaching at 2 - winning coaches by a total of 7 games. and then there was the FL no show.
@@robjohnson8861 and 1st day Rob Johnson tried commenting on RU-vid videos shows the true sorry a$$ person that he is. Can’t accept that Nebraska is better, better in the field. Seriously dude, get a hobby, get a job, do some rather sit in momma’s basement and look at RU-vid.
Kansas state had non conference schedule of Temple, Akron, Northern Illinois, Cincinnati. Bowl game win over Colorado State. Bill Snyder was a valedictorian at the Osborne school of easy scheduling.
@Rob Johnson no. He is correct. The 1995 Big 8 was by far the best conference. The Huskers were the best team in college football. I don't give af if you like NU or not. They were head and shoulders better than your cupcake team. I bet it was some weak Big 10 or SEC school. 😢😂😂
Nebraska football in the 90s was dominant. Osbourne’s move to emphasize speed training in offseason workout resulted in 3 nattys in 4 years. Yes, you have to have players, but speed always kills.
Nope. The FL no show was his best game if you combine yds (200 yds), longest run of 95 (31), longest run of his career (75) and still to this day, he owns the most pats on the ass (during the 75 yd run).
@@robjohnson8861 oh the no show drama continues. Think maybe just maybe it’s time to drop it? Fact that everyone says including Nebraska fans about the 96 ASU game, the team that won was the better team. Kinda sad when out numbered
@@robjohnson8861 you continue to show your idiotic thoughts. Frost still coaching, and oh Minnesota has 7 Championships while Nebraska has 5. Thanks for playing dumba$$.
In the 30 years I've been watching they are hands down the best team beat 4 teams who won 10 games and the big 8 was loaded with kstate, cu,ku, all 10-2! And Nebraska blew out all 3. And humiliated a Florida team that was every bit as good as the 96 Florida team!
Thank you from this Husker fan. To reciprocate, this game was a major benchmark in the 1995 Husker's greatness. A road game against an elite squad where Nebraska had no penalties, no turnovers, no sacks (they weren't sacked all year), and a balanced offense (226 yards rushing to 241 yards passing) which they needed because Colorado's run defense only allowed 159 yards on 53 carries after the Ahman Green TD.
@@CoreyT127 I still watch that Kansas game in amazement in how they bludgeoned their way to a dominant win in the second half. Next to this game, it's a top benchmark of that great team.
I don't think Ahman Green gets enough credit for the season he had as a TRUE FRESHMEN, stepping in after the suspension of then Heisman trophy candidate and arguably the best RB in the nation, Lawrence Phillips. Rushing for over 1,000 Yards in less than 10 starts. Outside of Frazier, I'm not sure there was a more valuable player on that whole team than #30
Florida State was capital G “Good”, them losing to Virginia was a huge upset. Some would argue they didn’t even lose that game if you look at the spot of the ball.
Poor Miami team? They came into that game ranked #3 in the country and were led by future NFL Hall of Famers Ray Lewis and Warren Sapp. Yeah, they were terrible.
*sigh* I wish your life could have been different Lawrence Phillips. I wish you just could have found somebody to love you, a lot of people will think of you as a thug, I just think of you as someone who spent his entire life getting the short end of the stick.
@@cpiep He threw pretty good in this game, dork. And he wasn't in an offense that demanded 65% passing. Oh, did you miss the pass in this game where he gets hit, collects himself and throws a strike?
Big 8 finished with 4 teams in the top 10. Colorado was clearly better than Florida. However, SEC is a huge football market, and the media wanted those viewers. They got their chance.
Ahman Green wasn't chopped liver by comparison. He rushed for over 1,000 yards in less than 10 starts as a true freshmen lol The guy also went on to a far greater pro career than LP. TBH they didn't really miss much of a beat without Lawrence, as phenomenal a talent as he was.
I miss the days when Colorado was good. The Colorado administration hated Bill McCartney because he was a Christian in a super-liberal city. A football team becomes successful due to the attraction of a coach, Colorado was competing for championships, now they are in disarray.
I agree they had some super good teams.. Nebraska was always in the way..This 95 team was pretty good...And dont feel bad the Huskers are trash right now too..This from a lifelong Husker fan
@@eddalal5892 I didn't say they fired him. He left because of Promise Keepers. I said the Colorado Administration hated him while he was there because he was Christian in a stupid super-liberal city. Look where the Colorado football team is now, Crappy. Can you read Douchebag?
Lot of people forget Nebraska was actually ranked #2 for most of the 95 season behind Florida State. In fact, this was a few days before FSU famously got upset at Virginia
C. K. One truck pony? 3 titles in a 4 yr span something FSU couldn’t/didn’t accomplish. They’d a kicked FSU’s ass all over the field just like they did to Florida
@@coolbreeze2.0-mortemadfasc13 Actually, they beat Miami the year before. The 1993 Nebraska team lost to FSU in the 1994 Orange Bowl, and that was a razor thin victory for FSU.
