I just commented on that before I read this. I was at those games with my dad and remember who crazy the place got watching the Big Unit walk out to the bullpen in game 5!! Truly a magical season.
Me too, and I’m not even a baseball fan. This was amazing. They were amazing. It was amazing. I’ll never forget it and am thrilled I was still in Seattle at the time. Born and raised there. Griffey had the most graceful swing I’ve ever seen.
Classic. I was there. In the centerfield cheap seats, it was actually a great view of the pitcher/hitter battle. This game is incredible, but this series was something out of a Hollywood movie script. Just unbelievable …
Joey Cora should been out for jumping outside the baseline to advoid the tag from mattingly I saw that game even mattingly said he jumped outside the baseline should have been mattingly year even 1994 mattingly should got a ring but the strike killed that but Joey cried against the Indians
Great video!! I remember being there with my dad and how crazy that place rocked especially when we saw Randy Johnson walk out to the bullpen and pitch the 9th,10th,& 11th innings. Just magic
You lucky sob!!! I was watching at home, and it was something,. YOU guys did a great job, cheering for all of us who couldn’t be there, and for yourselves. Thank you, for making us all so proud. Seattle has the best fans in the country, for all sports.
The only thing Dave got wrong on that last call was Griffey. "There going to wave him in". Griffey said he was going for home the entire way. Still an bone chilling ending. I wish there was better video of Griffey running the entire time. I really miss Dave.
I watched this sucker, on tv. Pins and needles. And then…exhilaration. It was so fun. I came home from work, early, for some reason, fresh outta college, making $8.50 an hour, parked myself on my mom’s bed and we watched it together. Norm was beloved, and Randy, was just a badass.
Actually very far from irrelevant. The Kingdome was built on the cheap and only after 20 years was falling apart. The Mariners had never been in the playoffs before and winning the ALDS influenced tax averse Washington residents and their government enough to fund a new stadium in Seattle. Without their success, the team would've been sold to an ownership who would've moved them out of the state. If you want to learn more about what happened, you should watch Secret Base's part 2 of the history of the Mariners from 11:00 and part 3
