Finally we are getting some momentum. The 1995 Legend is under the knife as I type this. This will be a multi-phase restoration project which involves mechanical work first, then cosmetics. Stay tuned for more!
This is great! It’s not every day you see someone restoring Acuras! I LOVE that second gen Integra! My absolute favorite! Keep the videos coming! They are great!!!
Acura Man - OMG you are doing such a great job. What is great about you is that you actually do tons of stuff yourself. I like seeing you open items you order, it's like seeing someone opening presents for Christmas. Good Job buddy, always enjoying your videos. Dave from El Paso the Sun City.
I would have taken everything from that junkyard legend personally. Or see if they offer a 50% off day in the near future. You just never know what you may need later since these cars are soooo old.
good choice not to drive that rig with the power steering leaking like that. Would have just been an oily mess from the power steering all the way to the bumper
🌞Awesome ,can’t wait to see more on this Legend. And that was so crazy that they had a identical one at the junk yard. Clearly this is all meant to be🥳.
Thanks Tyson, your videos have inspired me for years as an Acura enthusiast, although I can’t afford the type of restorations you do, I try to DYI and leave the clear coat problems alone for now.I’m actually working on importing an Acura CSX Type S to California. All I’m missing in the 6spd Type S line up is the 6Spd 2008 Acura TL Type S.
I graduated in 1995. I remember during my freshman year old college orientation they were playing TLC in the auditorium. Lol Love seeing this car restored!
That crackle is probably just a dirty volume potentiometer. You'll have to pull, crack open the head unit and clean the pot with Deoxit or some other kind of electrical contact cleaner.
Hi Tyson, I'm looking for the originals wheels. Same as the one had on your white legend and the one at the junk yard. Can you please tell me which junk yard you went to. Thanks.
Sure, they were at the U Pull & Pay on Buckeye Rd & 25th Avenue in Phoenix. Those wheels are usually available on Ebay, and I have an extra set I would consider selling.
Despite an impressive list of problems that need addressing, the best part of this car is that there is no significant rust. Looking forward to seeing this thing rise from the ashes. Do you have a time frame on when you’ll get it back from the shop with the mechanical bits sorted out?
Hi Tyson where did you procure your interior parts for the acura legend. Need some advise on the radio my radio knob turns its self off when i power the radio on. can you kindly provide some info on the radio please
Service manuals are extreme important! Not only for the work steps, but especially for all possible tightening torques. Luckily I have had all the German KA books for my Legends collection for a long time. So really all versions that were supplied to the Legend workshops from 1987 to 2002 (Not every Honda dealer in Germany was allowed to service Legends, similar to the NSX.), including extra expenses for transmissions and body repair.
What is your ultimate goal with this Legend?, are you going to keep it, sell it? If you sell, can you get anywhere close to what you put into it? I purchased a beautiful 1995 LS legend 3 years ago with 94,000 miles 4 door sedan automatic for under $3000. I love Legends also, but you can get them for a song! You do very good and meticulous work! The before and after pics are already amazing! Good luck to you, can't wait to see the next chapter on your Legend rebuild! Take Care!!
@@TysonHugie u might already know from that smoke but if u dont I'd suggest looking at the head gasket. In my 95 legend ls I ended up having my head gasket go and oil started leaking into the coolant. This made it hard to diagnose because no oil was coming out of the bottom of the car. I had 3 different mechanics look at it and non off them could tell me the right answer. Some suggested that it could be coolant leaking into my exhaust system.
Any progress is great progress! I know what you mean, third Integra parts for me are hard to find in the local market. It’s either eBay or patiently wait watching Pick N Pull websites with cash in my wallet.
The bones are there. Being an az car, there will be many seals and bushings that need to be replaced I'm sure. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Is that honman in Tempe like your older vids? I work 5 mins away from there. My accord v6 manual is going to need the transmission torn out and synchros replaced. Had to replace a bunch of interior pieces just as you did. The sun is cruel here.
You're coming along nicely with this project bro! My head gasket blew on me last year and I got them redone. For some reason it's still smoking like yours is doing. My mechanic and I cant figure out why. My idling is off to. Any ideas? I thought about selling it because I'm tired of putting money into it but I just can't let it go. 🤷🏿♂️🤣
Yeah I'm not sure, in this case I haven't even 100% confirmed the HGs are blown because the temp gauge is fine, but the white smoke is a pretty telltale sign. Keep me posted on what you end up doing!
Gotta say love your passion for these! Ever since my earlier years I’ve wanted one of these Acura legends! Love the some what wide body! Almost bought one back in the day, & funny thing is I found one sitting behind a Diner , I think 4 door. Body looked pretty clean, & was sitting 4 flat tires! Almost tempted on acquiring info about it!
Sherwood green and tan leather is such a beautiful combo. Hurt my heart to see the other green coupe making its way closer to the crusher. The guys over at Honman are spot on! Hooked my coupe up like a champ! Have you decided who is going to paint it?
@@TysonHugie There is something very special about the Sherwood Green color. Given your epic attention to detail and considering you are going to create a like-new restoration, I would encourage you to spend whatever it takes to ensure the repaint shows no signs of being a re-spray and that it truly appears perfect in every way. We all know all your Acura's are special to you but it's obvious this one really holds a special place in your acuraheart.
I absolutely love this project, most people wouldn't have even touched that thing, but the sentimental connection you have to it is going to make this so incredible when it is finished!!
With those carpets, place the old one on top and trace around the edges and seat cutouts with a sharpie. That should go in last after the paint is complete. So lucky to have aftermarket carpet for your Legend coupe, unlike the Cb9 wagon...
That's a very tall order on a car this rough... My goal is to get it presentable for Legend meets and the occasional RADwood show. So essentially yes, this is sort of like someone from a generation before me doing a "frame off" restoration on a '68 Nova SS. Or something like that.
I can't wait to see how this turns out! I know you'll make it an amazing transformation. I'd like to see a video of the interior gutted and then rebuilt.
Came to say I really enjoyed finding this restoration project. I’ve seen your channel here and there before but I think this type of content can really do well on RU-vid as you’re very passionate about the Acura brand and have the resources to pull it off. Would like to see more neglected Acura restorations in the future.
