I love watching the amateurs going round Aintree. Incredibly brave men and women, not to mention extremely competent horsemen as well. I'm not surprised there were a lot of finishers, because when you're doing this for fun, why would you pull up - even if you can't win?
The jockey on Solar Green won the national two years later as a trainer. It's a good job he was not riding Lord Gyllene after watching him ride around here in this race.
a good bold ride by that top clas man Alan Hill. Victoria Pendleton could not have chosen better mentors than he and his wife Lawney. They know the job backwards and set the highest standards in horsemanship and horse management.
as much as I am happy to see gelding running in National hunt racing I just wonder what will happen if any of the colts run in the National Hunt racing but I only know about 3 horses who ran in national hunt racing one was Midnight legend but he was going over hurdle the other 2 where over fences one was cruise missile the one was a Czech horse he ran the Grand nation but later after 12th fence he was pulled up probably the Jockey got scared and pulled him up
