Love you guys works. Where’s your shop located at? I have 96 gsr in excellent condition but high mileage and It needs some works done to keep it running, like Timming belt, value adjustment, value steams, and pistons rings. It burns lot of oil and hard to pass smog test now.

Around 32:05 did u tighten the tension by rotating 3 teeth clock wise? Isn’t it suppose to be counter clockwise ?
@civilengineer2024
@civilengineer2024 2 месяца назад
The manual says counter if you turn it at the crank, but you can turn it clockwise if you turn it at the intake cam bolt. The critical dimensions are the Crank-CamEx-CamIn so as long as that is in tension when turned it should work.

25:35 don’t forget that the hash marks on the cam plug should align with the head top surface. I’ve been using that updated plastic plug for 20 years (original 94-95 version was rubber), and I never knew until recently that it should be installed in a particular orientation. I also replaced a couple of my PS hoses. One of them available OEM, but one of them I had to get through RockAuto.

This cylinder head cover has been taken apart before. At 17:11 when he takes off the cylinder head cam plug, it’s got Honda Bond on it. Those plugs are installed dry. Regardless, it’s still a very clean engine. I wonder if it’s always been a Florida car?

FSM or factory service manual says valve lash adjustment every 15k miles and this plug is common to leak, so at 60k, should have gone through 4 times already. Don't know the the manual was updated but it's common practice to use a sealant there. This is good thing, showing the owner was taking car of the car 😊 sorry to respond to an older vid and comments. Barely came across this. Awesome work, by the way guys

Hey guys just stumbled upon this channel. I am an avid Honda driver. I currently own a 91 EF hatch with 96 Spec B18C in an OEM+ sort of build, a 2004 CRV EX AWD with K24A2 (daily beater, but fun) and a 2017 Accord Coupe 6-6. My wife also has a 2011CRV and we just bought a 2023 Pilot Touring this evening. Love seeing old bone stock low mileage cars like this.

Just wanted to let you know that the crome valve cover gourmets used were originally for the Integra type R b18c5 and b16b, b16a and b18c1 used black anodized versions(like the original ones removed) . Just thought I'd you know. Found that out years ago when both kits were readily available. Great content btw! I have been doing a restore on a all original 95 db8 in stealth gray metallic! At 31:55 how many teeth back do I need to set the cams for when you tighten the camgear to get the tension on the belt? And I'm assuming that removes the slack on the exhaust side of the belt

To me it appears that timing belt, or at least the tensioner bearing, is not original. All the OEM tensioner bearings I've seen (made by Koyo) have a brown rubber seal on them. The green sealed bearing appears to be a common aftermarket part. Just did a TB job on a1994 Honda Integra ESI that was fresh off the boat from Japan (with 39k KM) and it had a brown Koyo bearing.

Never turn the engine clockwise when setting the timing belt. Loosen adjusting bolt 1/2 turn, rotate crankshaft counter clockwise 3 teeth on the camshaft pulley, tighten adjusting bolt
@Lafue108
@Lafue108 7 месяцев назад
I noticed that too. The reason why it works here is because he's turning it clockwise from the CAM, not the crank. Not really in the manual, but i guess it still maintains tension during the process at the ICAM-ECAM and ECAM-CRANK parts of the belt, which are the critical ones. If he would have turned it clockwise at the crank, it would have tensioned the incorrect side of the belt.

Be advised these part numbers were pulled from the B16B diagrams, so I can't guarantee compatibility with any other engine. It should get you close though.
