I just bought an automatic 1995 Honda Accord Wagon LX last month, because I needed something cheap and reliable which could accommodate my wife, our baby, myself, my wheelchair, and a set of hand controls, as I'm unable to move my legs and feet. The previous owner had driven it 120,000 miles since buying it new, and apparently kept it in a garage, and well-maintained. I love this car and try very hard to take care of it, inside and out. I'm very light on the gas pedal, but there always seems to be a little power in reserve should the necessitating occasion arise. The throttle is very responsive to small adjustments, and the auto gearbox happily downshifts if you give the right input. Unfortunately it can't easily decide whether to be in 2nd or 3rd at low RPMs, so you have to work around that. The craftsmanship and fit inside is great, no flimsy materials. The steering wheel feels particularly nice. Parts for this car are cheap and widely available. Honda used to make really high quality metallic paint jobs in the 90s, which my Accord also has.... sort of a champagne metallic. We named it Marengo, after Napoleon's horse. I'm probably going to replace the wheel covers with center caps and slap a set of Michelins on. Hopefully we can get another 120K without major calamity. From the side and especially the rear, this car looks great, even beautiful. The proportions and overhang in the very front seem a bit off, a few inches too long and a few degrees too squarish at the corners. I love its nice, typical 90s Japanese styling elements: low window sills, a tall canopy which tapers to a surprisingly small roof, and vast expanses of lightly tinted glass interrupted only by slim pillars. This a great, well-made, fun, enthusiasts' car, worthy of admiration and care. And you will not see many others on the road, much less looking well.

6:09 The moderately sized Honda four, the stick shift, sure, but I think you forgot to mention the double wishbone suspension and the perfectly placed pedals.

My dad drove his 97 back from his wedding. I came home for the first time in a 97 Accord. I moved across the country twice in a 97 according. My bro came home in a 97 Accord.now Im learning driving in the 97 accord

My bro-in-law had a ‘94 accord wagon he had bought for $300 out of a friends front lawn, where it had sat for the past 3 years with light issues. He fixed it up and put 17’ Konig rims on it (even though it had black patina paint) with 200k miles and man it was a nice wagon.. until it was t-boned by a Durango. RIP Shaggin Wagon

Oh man. This brings back memories. My mom had a 1993 Accord Wagon. It had the automatic, but dammit that car was a joy to drive. It was also loyal. Kept going for 265K miles until we hit a log on an interstate, which cracked the block. I learned to drive in her! She was brilliant! Damn, I still miss that car...

My car growing up was a 93 civic 4-door with a stick and man was it fun. It' Always amazed me that a car intended for efficient commuting could be so fun to redline and toss around. Those stick shifts are perfect.

Damnit Regular. Not only was this a fun review as anyone in my demographic (47 yrs. old Gen Xer) has at least ridden in an Accord, hung over/drunk at 7:30 A.M, getting a ride some place. That was great. But your last part, you hit me with the rescue dog part, as my OLD rescue dog looks at me. Damn you and The Roman, you keep killing it. Cheers!

I love the interior smell of a 90's Honda on a warm day.

I could argue all Honda cars are like this. I own a '99 Honda CRV and it drives like the little Honda Civic on stilts that it is. Say what you want about little dinky foreign cars but leave Honda alone, because until you drive on you don't know what you are missing.

I had a 94 Accord EX wagon. Only kept it about a year, couldn't stand the automatic. Otherwise was a decent ride. Can't beat a wagon. Rockin' a manual 2004 Mazda 6 wagon now, love it.

I love driving these older accords. They give way more feedback than other commuter cars I’ve driven and they handle much better, which makes for an entertaining drive, even under the speed limit

I want one of these! The one I almost bought had 430k miles on it and his family kept that car when they bought it new in 97. had one owner and a grip of paper work from the dealer on what had been done to it. I have a 2000 accord 4 door sedan with vtech. a 1995 delsol si. and also in the means of buying a 1979 acty van imported from japan... honda has some awesome cars.

I used to have a 91 Accord sedan 5speed. I've owned almost a dozen cars with various cylinders, displacements, power figures, and yet even after all this time that dinky little 2.0L that probably had 80 WHP on a good day was one of the most fun cars I've ever had and I'm on the hunt to buy another. I miss that car so much. I'm pretty much over 4 cylinder cars as a whole by now, but I still genuinely want that car.

This is special for me. I started my full-time professional automotive career in August 1995 at Honda in Marysville OH, just as they were launching the '96 Accords (mid-model change). Even though these maybe didn't sell so well in the US, we built TONS of these for export, including RHD. (Yes, we even exported these BACK to Japan!) We had the best-selling American-made car, year-after-year. The Taurus and Camry sold more units, but so many of those were fleet sales compared to the Accord, which was mostly consumer sales, that right or wrong, we claimed the title. When I was still in college and getting ready to set out on my career path, my dream job was to work in one of the Japanese transplants. While it took many months, when Honda finally came through with an interview, and then an offer, I was elated. Honda was a great training ground for a young recently-graduated engineer like myself, to learn day-to-day the inner workings of an assembly plant (though I'd also spent some time in GM plants before during my internships). Most of all, I learned The Honda Way, which is hard to explain in a simple sentence or two. But it ingrained basic problem-solving principles such as "Be on the Spot", "Contain the Problem", and speaking with data (rather than making assumptions). It was very challenging at times, and I spent many late nights on 2nd shift, including having to stay till all hours of the morning checking cars in the yard before shipment. I remember a hot summer day when myself and one other person were the only ones available to check cars, and I had just had toe surgery, but still had to clomp around in cramped steel-toe shoes. I even spent some time helping out at the East Liberty plant where they built Civics. But I still miss those days. The payoff for our team was the 1997 JD Power IQS award, where we achieved the industry-best IQS score of 51. I still remember the plant-wide presentation which filled me with pride. But this was before they changed the rules to favor "domestic" makes, and just as Toyota introduced its '97 Camry whose IQS score was only two points worse in its first-year of production. This generation is still my favorite. Because I was young and stupid and didn't know how good I had it, I left Honda a few years later when another company came calling with a much higher salary. I still keep in touch with a few of the friends I made there after so many years through Christmas cards. But we've drifted apart, and I suspect they outgrew themselves after the '98 model change and the introduction of the Acura models there. Honda, and indeed the entire industry, just wasn't quite the same afterward. Just didn't seem the same. On my last day of work I managed to buy a '96 Accord from the service center with 60k on it. It was the fully-loaded EX-V6 with leather and sunroof. That car with 60k was better than the '95 Dodge Neon Sport Coupe when I'd bought it new. I kept that Accord for five more years and another 90k before I regretfully traded it in, well before its time. (I checked on Carfax a few years later and it still had at least yet another 90k on it.) All these years later I still wish I hadn't left.

Another great review. It''s nice to see your appreciation for cars. On a side note, when I was younger and my friend had one of these with a single VTEC and it really buggies. I have a fully modified EM2 01-05 Civic and I appreciate so many little things about it. Any car can be made fun... and fast.

My first car was a 91 Accord. 2.2L, non-vtec, 4-door, and I loved it. I sold it back in 2013 after owning it for 2 years and I miss it. I still see it driving around a lot, and I want to drive it again. I've built it up in my mind so much that I feel like if I drove it again I'd be let down because it wouldn't handle as well as I remember, or be as fast as I remember. Man... that was a tough car. A fun car. I want another Accord.

please review an early 1990s Toyota Camry wagon. I mean c'mon, it had 2 rear windshield wipers! that's reason enough in itself for an RCR ANALysis.

my dads been working with cars all his life. he got me one of these 10 years ago, when i was still worrying if i wanted the crusts on my pb&j or not, and when he taught me how to drive on our old beat up ford ranger, (yes the vulcan v6) i was excited to drive a nice new car that roared. and then he showed me this car. and least to say i was, un-enthused at the prospect of driving it around campus. but watching this video right before i'm about to get my license and shipped off to college, i'm ready. i'm so excited to zoom around with my friends in this car. awesome review!

How do you find such "regular" examples of these cars yet rare in a way that it isn't auto or a sedan? No one this day and age would review something like this. Keep doing what you are doing.

I currently drive a 1990 Honda Accord CB7, and while it may be 5 years older and an automatic, it's so much fun to drive. Of course if it were a manual it'd be even better, but the point is that there's something about Honda engines. I use to really dislike Honda's. Thought I'd never own one, until I inherited my grandmothers car when she stopped driving. After you throw your friend of the roof of it, and have another couple of friends kick dents in the fenders, you start to really appreciate the durability of them. AND THEY'RE SO PEPPY. You put your foot down in an older Honda, and BAM! You watch your revs go up and suddenly you're doing 50 - 60 miles an hour. I'm moving on to a new car soon, but if I ever need a really cheap runabout to get from A to B, and have fun doing so, I'll buy a 90's Honda Accord. I love 'em to bits. Because my 1990 "Trash Panda" Honda Accord is just 𝘴𝘰 𝘥𝘢𝘮𝘯 𝘢𝘸𝘦𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦.

Great review. My parents bought a brand new 94 Accord EX Wagon. It was the car I learned to drive on and they kept it till 2009. Aside from the moonroof motor burning out it was super reliable.

The F20 and F22 were great motors. Totally underappreciated. They sound great (yes, even without vtec) and more importantly actually have a decent torque band, so you don't have to keep them wound up to have fun. I had a '92 accord coupe. Awesome car. I'd take one over a d16z6 (or lesser) powered 90s civic any day of the week and twice on Sunday. The shifter on them is usual honda quality but better than the civic. The pedals are perfectly spaced for toe and heel driving. The seats are great. Si civics of the era may have better bolstering, but the accord seats have bolstering (even on lower trims) and are more comfortable than a civic. Need more power? An H22 is an easy drop-in or you can boost the stock f-series (lowish compression and a stout bottom end). Anyhow, great underappreciated car and as such they can be had cheap.

The best Accords ever: 1994-1997 Accords like this one. What really made this car fun to drive on turns was the double wishbone suspension set up, like a Formula 1 car. That's why these are the Accords that racers wanted. Hondas in general are nice revving engines. Heck, Honda even made a Type R version of this gen accord (a twin cam VTEC Accord was never sold in the US, but it was built here). There was one trim level above this LX wagon called the EX. The EX had the VTEC engine. It was single cam too, but you could feel the difference. EXs were available in sedan and wagon too. I've seen more than a handful of Gen 5 Accords with over 400K miles on original engines and transmissions... and they still ran well! Accords haven't been as well-built or as reliable since.

the 94-97 accords was the best looking accords ever made. the current gen accords looks like this gen but modern. when these were new, I thought cars couldn't possible look better than this. esp in SE trim after the face lift in 1996 which the alloy wheels with the 5 holes in it.

I am so glad you brought this car up. first off there is a white wagon floating around PA on airbags and limo tint. it is the reason I fell in love with mine when my dad picked it up for $327 (scrap price at the time.) I replaced the plugs and wires, cleaned the intake and EGR valve, if you have never cleaned one on this 2.2 you need to its crazy the design. Once I got it to run again I threw a prelude intake on, and a 2.75in catback from J&H automotive custom bent with an S10 resonator it screamed on the highway and made that 5speed you are so enthusiastic about a gem in the rough. I would take that big hug back any day of the week. embarrassing chubby and all. kudos @RegularCars

As someone who went from an 03 ranger to an 03 Accord, holy crap the "vulkan v6" bit is ON POINT

My first car (after my grandma's hand-me-down 1983 Oldsmobile 88 Royale Brougham) was a black '92 Accord EX sedan. It was an automatic, but it had what appears to be this same 16-valve 2.2L inline 4. I thought it was a blast to drive, but have often wondered how much of that was because it was my first. This was refreshing to see.

I have a 1997 accord wagon lx, its an automatic . Its my first official car has 242k miles on it got it from a 1 owner and its that exact green. I have fallen in love with that car and i wanna drive it forever. The interior is spotless and very few flaws cosmetic wise. Its fun to drive i love the story behind my honda. This review you made was the same way i felt for mine and many people dont realize it and would think "oh yeah right". Thank you my good sir. 👌👌👌

Non vtec engines actually sound and feel great. I recently had a first drive of a B20B7 engine, no vtec. Sounded great, pulled cleanly and bundled with a 5 speed manual in a third gen Prelude. It's actually about as quick as my b18C 'vtec' Integra which, on pen and paper, should be quicker.

My dad owned one of these, it got passed down to me when I got my license(not all that long ago) and I love it so much. It has 326k miles and its not NEARLY in as good condition as this one, but I love it so much

Same story goes for the similar-aged Legacy wagons. a 2.2l/5spd combination is not particularly fast, but plenty of fun. and, unlike all later Subies, the 2.2 didn't blow head gaskets.

I did not know who Lee Iacocca was before these reviews! As an amateur car enthusiast/mechanic the complete ideology behind specific vehicles and vehicles in general and how they relate to culture you provide with these videos help fortify my knowledge of vehicles in general. I never comment but this is my favorite channel and I had to let you know. THE THINGS YOURE DOING ARE THE REASON WERE HERE.

My first car was the luxury coupe cousin of this and while it had the four speed automatic instead of the five speed that I wanted, it was still a blast to drive as an 16 year old kid who just got his license. Had the little VTEC engine and the leather seats with the wood-style trim and quite a nice bose sound system even now, let alone for the mid-2000's. Ended up putting a little exhaust and intake on it like every kid did back then and it was honestly one of the greatest cars I've ever owned, even in it slow and ricey flaws. Glad I held onto it over the years!

90's hondas are great cars, the lot of them. They all have a certain amount of flare to them despite their commuter car intentions. I drove an abandoned Accord sedan of this generation with no tags, no battery, and a trunk that smelt of death, and even at 300k miles it still wanted to do burnouts on its utterly shit tires. If you find one of these old Accords with a stick, buy it, it is such a fun car.

I bought a 1994 Accord wagon automatic for $1200, it was leaking oil and cost another $1200 to fix. It ran perfectly, and then sustained some severe damage around the whole car. And even after the severe damage, the car ran like nothing ever happened. The thing was damn bulletproof. And I’d also like to point out, the thing was FAST AS HELL in corners for what it was. On roads I knew well I could keep up with sports cars no sweat, and even outpace some cars like mustangs and Cameros. I loved that Honda very much. I miss it. (And of course the car I got to replace it had the fuel pump go out not 48 hours after purchase, and hasn’t even been repaired yet. Never had that problem with my Honda.)

The reason I love RCR so much is because the cars that are reviewed are cars everybody knows and doesn't think much about them. However, this channel continues to find the best in every car and its so entertaining seeing how a true car guy loves every car.
