Back Yard Mechanic Work. Got estimates from $550 to $775 JUST for the fuel pump. I did it all for $150. Complete pump, high pressure fuel lines, gas filler hose, low pressure returns, emission lines and all new clamps. Priceless
Very nice video. You seem to be the only guy making a video on this, that cared enough to clean the area before removing the pump ( this why I continued watching). Who would believe someone who lets all that crap fall into the tank? I'm bookmarking this for future use as I just tested my system looking for a reason for a bad running truck (wasn't my problem either). Kudos, very informative and thank you.
Very backwoods sounding guy video well explained I would have hooked up to a tree limb also lol I now know how tho change my fuel pump on my 93 d21 4x4 v6
I don't know where you live, but you belong in the South. This is some Shade Tree Mechanic work. Talkin' bout pullin that bed off with the tree limb. Good work and great vid!
I've been in Florida since 1970. When you could go to Clearwater Beach and there were only a dozen cars in the parking area. Before the "Yankee Invasion" of the 80's.
I do not have a farm jack. I used 2 scissor lift jacks on 2 cinder blocks and some bricks that bring it up to the top of the rear tire. I laid a piece of 1x6 to extend onto the tire. This way the pressure exerted down is even. I did this on both sides and raised it up even. I used blocks between the bottom of bed and frame. This sounds complicated but not too much once you get started
Must do the same on a '97. Nice pictures of hose locations. Thanks for video and good job. But unless I missed something, seems like a good way to get decapitated. Would use a couple 2x4 or 4x4 to prop up bed for safety in case jack got bumped
Question my amigo see if you answer i got the same nissan my issue if i got to the filter under de carburetor unglug the filter the gas is coming at top hose and i guees is supposed to come fron the botton of the filter ???
My truck set for 2 years and I am trying to get it running again I think my pump is bad I took the hose off the top of the fuel filter the one that goes to the fuel rail and try to start and no gas comes out. Can you hear the fuel pump come on? I have a 92 2.4L
I have the same truck 1996 Nissan pickup 2.4L 4 cylinder. I’m having a hard time finding the whole assembly for the fuel pump and was wondering where did you purchase yours and if you have the part number. Thank
Got mine at RockAuto.com. You might also want to consider just replacing just the pump itself. Here's a good video for doing that: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6ujJGYB1KSs.html. He removes the tank so my method to get at the pump assembly is easier.
Oh it looks on your video that it lifted up straight up , I try doing it and only one side was going up the other side was tilting even with all 4 bolts unscrew it was putting too much pressure on them so I stop , I’ll get my fuel pump today so I’ll try again thanks.
John, Above the bolts on top of the bed hold down bracket there are the bolt heads. Took a picture but can't post it here. I didn't check to see what size head. You will need a socket and feel by hand.
It didn't add to the horsepower but sure got it back due to lack of fuel. Gets up and goes pretty quick. And I've pulled 5000 pounds surprisingly well. Trailer has brakes.
Easy to check fuel pressure. Most car parts will loan the guage. My engine would lose power once in a while. Fuel pressure would drop below minimum pressure.
@@tedkoran mine just seems to not prime correctly and sometimes takes a bit to start the truck. Also mpg isn't that good. My lines may be rotted as well. Smells of gas around the tank wit fumes
You can buy just the pump part of the unit. Be sure to get one that has the plug that fits like original. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6ujJGYB1KSs.html
It's a '96. You can get just the pump part and not the entire unit. Just make sure you get the replacement wit th proper plug. The cheaper ones don't have a connector plug so you'll need to splice and use heat shrink protector. What year do you have?
I have the new one. It didn't have the heat sensor on it. I put a new pump in the old one. Turns out the pump wasn't the problem. Had a pinhole in the line by the filter and was causing a vacuum causing loss of power. I'm located in Fl.
Ted I'm only getting 10mpg. You mentioned replacement of pump wasn't necessary, as you had a pin hole in fuel line by filter. You mean the filter in engine compartment? How did you find and fix the problem? Thanks for the time you took to make this video!!!
