i love Artamonova Too.. she is the best player of volleyball of team russia :) should has a medal gold... and sould be in the hall fame volleyball.. sorry for my english xD
isaias saul cahui maldonado i love artamonova also and i am her biggest fan since she was 16 and up to her last playing year in russia.. She became my inspiration along with sokolova, tishchenko, godina, gamova, batoukhtina, gracheva and menchova!
Super obsessed with Artamonova at the time. I remember she spiked the ball so hard the ball made a huge thud and everyone in the place was in awe. I got over excited when she played in the London olympics and my heart broke when they lost to Brazil. Will forever be a huge fan of hers.
Me either.. she was my inspiration why i became a vball player. The high set and wild arm swing are really just her.. She is truly my Idol even up to this day..
Only Artamonova was an outstanding hitter of Russia after the older players of ex-USSR had gradually quitted the team, even Tishchenko didn't play as good as Ogienko and Chebukina in the quick attacks. Batouktina was only an average player and hardly gave amazing kills when facing strong teams. Godina and Mensova were potentially good at spiking but their mobility was poor. Smirnova and Sidorenko were still the best heavy hammers in the team of the prime times of USSR.
Yeah, you're right. Sokolova was amazing at both of spiking and mobility, no matter where she was on the position 4 or 2 and gave kills at the back. As the combination of her and Gamova was perfect and both of them were the best women's volleyball players ever of the Russian team.
Russia had already beaten this same Cuban team in the Grand Prix 95, and it seemed for a few months that the Russian team had already overcome Cuba, and Artamonova was an asset that Karpol needed at that time...Unfortunately for them, China was on its way to the semifinals and beat the Russians for a place at the Olympic final against you know who.......for the Bronze medal battle, Brazil would finally beat them once again 3-2 and that was the end of an era for most of the players that won the Gold medal at Seoul 88.
Me either.. I became obsessed with her when i saw her play back in 1992 (i was in 6th grade to be exact hehe).. I always wanted to see her huge spike with her wild arm swing.. Now that im already in my 30's.. I still love watching all her games..
Al O'brien Artamonova is also my idol. She is the reason why I became a volleyball player. I saw her playing when she was 17 yrs old...and from then on, she became my inspiration. I dont have the 99 world cup but i have the 2000 gp finals. But im having difficulties uploading it..maybe the file is too large..but i will try my best to share it to you.
mofreeman1 i dont have their games.. But u can try watching these videos held here in the Philippines during '94 GP ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-k-kjPyfh8Zw.html
llex jay cruz Thanks man. I'm determined to find all of the usa vs netherlands matches from the 90s that I can. Two questions. 1. Do u kno anyone else who MIGHT have them. 2. Do u have any suggestions on how i could find or download the matches from the 1994 event?
