what's funny is that, at least on the older cars (Grand Prix's included), you can replace the R12 refrigerant gas with a propane/hydrocarbon blend if you don't want to spend hundreds on R12 or an r134a conversion. If done right, the A/C works really well. If done wrong, or a passenger smokes / lights a match in the cabin with the A/C system leaking, you've basically just ignited high-pressure propane.
