It was a devastating time. Unfortunately the role the Air Force base and personnel was never discussed in any of the local media coverage. They wouldn't have gotten the fire out without them.

I really wish they had traveled to NE side of Grand Forks into Riverside Dr. -however many homes were completely underwater. Many beautiful homes in Riverside Dr. were destroyed, only a couple were moved off their foundation to higher grounds and preserved to this day.
