Tough one for Rusty. He should have had 3 wins in 2017. Lost the lead at the spring Bristol race on the last lap to Gordon. Then started to early this race.
Yeah that was fucking bullshit, you clearly hear all the spotters yelling "green green green" when Rusty took off and I've seen worse jumps by Tony Stewart for instance at Watkins Glen that he wasn't black flagged for when he was leading. I remember this race because it was run on a Monday and I was at school listening to it on the radio and somewhere between when I got off the bus and was walking home this happened because when I turned it on he wasn't leading anymore and I was like WTF even happened. NASCAR had it out for him after those 1996 Bristol post race comments about democrats and the election.
They tried to take away his Richmond win at the beginning of 97 as well by saying his compression ratio wasn't right but then they backed off because they misinterpreted their own rule. His was like 14.03 or something and the rule was that it had to be 14.0 and his crew chief correctly stated that it technically is within the rule of 14.0.
