1997 Honda CR80 gearbox issue

bought a little 1997 #honda #cr80 for my son the other day. I knew it had a #gearbox issue when i bought it. Hard to get into 1st or 2nd gear. i'd hoped the #engine wouldn't have needed splitting but it did and my original suspicion was sort of right but there were a couple of other issues too

I have tig welded and ground rounded dogs and engagement holes. Then rehardended. Lasted for years. Even mig weld works. I polished shift drum and pins and use Belray gear saver. Excellent save! Cheers 🥂

Hi, I have 98' CR 80, the gearbox dont turn 4,5,6° gear. On the gear drum find dents on the corners, you think that would be the problem?.

It most definitely could be or the shift forks

Id change the shift drum 1st and see if that fixes it - any indents however small can have major impact on smooth operation of the gears
