Dude, that would be the coolest thing ever to drive to work at 200 miles an hour every single day and almost like feel amazing when she walk in the door. You're like dude I'm going to have a good day
I regretted until today that I sold my 1999 Honda Prelude. Brought a brand new from the dealership and got up to 285k and it still running so good. Only cosmetic things that made me selling it.
There’s something about driving a slow-car-fast old car. It’s a certain charm, like you can hear and feel every intake valve suck air in, and you can feel the car’s natural handling characteristics.
its a live, raw experience...you feel connected to the car, it becomes an extension of yourself, you get a response from every single input...its intoxicating
This is those kind of cars we drive with emotions, heart, sometimes rage, very far from comfy with 400hp and no feeling at all. We live and want to vibe!
Потому что раньше делали для людей неубиваемуюю технику а щяс из фольги говна и пластмассы клепают и моторы говно сегодняшние и все остальное. Одни только кузова четко по безопастности. А хочется хорошие движки!!! Хонда сила)!!!
It's amazing how much speed they were able to squeeze out of just 133 hp back then. A low weight and light/small wheels and a fairly aerodynamic and low profile (unlike today's for the most part much taller vehicles), combined with no dumb electronic top speed governors kicking in, made it possible to hit impressive speeds despite just 133 hp.
Ohhh love these old japanese cars. Even the lowest engine, this 2l. Is amazing. Try to find a unit with the 2.2 VTEC engine and you'll see the difference...it's brutal!!!Very good video as always!!!
A little silly comment's here. Today's Jazz has the same motor performance as the above Prelude, 130HP and a much-much lighter car. And today's Type R is much-much better than the old Integra or Civic Type R. It has a real sporty engine, while VTEC is the poor man's "turbo". I don't understand the nostalgy, today you can buy much better Honda cars for the money.
My Civic EJ coupe was one of the best cars I've ever driven despite having had some much more powerful and expensive cars. The Honda double wishbone suspension all round is what made them so damned good.
I had a 2001 Prelude MT for about 15 years. I absolutely loved that car and was incredibly fun to drive. I would argue Honda's 2.2L VTEC I4 is in the top 10 best engines ever made category. What I definitely appreciate is how it had 214,000+ miles and still drove like it was brand new. Just incredible.
The engine was the only lacking part of the car imo. It was a heavy car for a 4 cylinder. I didn’t like how a lot of scenarios forced you out of vtec and it felt like it had no power to get back there
@@roachwerks3043The 2.4L I4 with a manual is a great driving experience. At the time in the 1990s when it came out it was fast as hell compared to the competition. The S2000 which replaced it was faster there is no doubt but that is typicall how it works. Speaking of the S2000 that car is becoming quite collectable now too.
Yeah I mean a turbo engine is better than the startup at every red light I hear when a hybrid pulls up, or the no sound at all of an electric, with pre programmed HP, Acceleration…want more horsepower pay for the premium race car pass will be the future.
I prefer hybrid electric over many autos or run of the mill manuals. They have more fine control imo. I'd love electric too, as long as the chassis feel is right.
I’ve owned my 2000 prelude for about 4 years now.. top speed I hit on the 14 freeway in Southern California desert was .. right around 135 mph ! It was a rush .. that car is such a joy to drive ! If Honda brings this back with 2 doors and 3 pedals I would be very interested . But instead they bought back the name of integra and attached it to a basic sedan
@@andremarques2907 yeah but like you wrote its a Vtech, the car shown is just the normal 2.0 Liter Prelude, Prelude also had a Vtech Version so that would shit on that... whatever man you just dumb..
very impressive for 'just' 130hp shows how good a coupe style is for allowing speed. Also very short ratios, guessing its the same box as the 2.2 which rev to 8k not 6.5 lol I always discounted the 2.0s because i thought theyd be alot slower than this showed. and now theyre classics and nowhere to be found. oh well
I had a 2001 with the 2.2 h22a vetec . 200hp. It was crazy fast compared to this one. Pulled 240km in no time. Was one of my favorite cars. Love the video
Man also had the H22. I didn’t know the fifth gen came with anything less. Didn’t even watch the video after it said it only had a 2L with 130hp lol skiiimp
@@moretrash4you why hate on a smaller engine? It was more affordable back then and many ppl could buy one. TO be honest 133 hp are enough to commute on the highway. 🤷🏼♂️
Loved the video. Love to see why Hondas are Hondas. 24 year old car (25 from it's production year), with almost 133k miles, and performing as good as new...just pure quality. Keep the good videos coming!
The fastest that i've ever went in my '99 prelude was between 140-145 mph going down a hill. Obviously, i couldn't stare at the speedo but i did see it was almost maxed. That was almost 20 years ago, I've never been anywhere near that fast ever since.
I remember seing one of these in my father's friend's wrecking yard, a golden/beige example laying under a 2006 Cadillac DTS and two 80s Fiat Unos... I didn't see it again when I got back there last month. Let's hope he just moved it in another part of the yard... back when Japanese cars had a sense... 😶
There’s some seriously fast preludes out there , I had a guy in a black mid 1990s prelude that was completely souped up blow my doors off while I was already doing about 110 mph and he blew by me damn near like I was standing still and shot a blue flame out of the tailpipe with a loud pop he must’ve been doing at least 170mph, I think their kind of underrated considering how much potential they have.
My mom was looking for a daily driver one year ago. She had the opportunity to get a Prelude for 1 700€ but she was scared that it was "too old". Instead she got a 2001 mk.1 Octavia for 1 500€ and spent over 1 000€ on repairs already, it broke down 3 times and it has fake mileage. She regrets it to this day.
Nice, Honda has the best gearbox and clutch feel out there, matched with their analog vtec early engines makes an awesome driving experience. Still sounds so smooth and rev-happy.
I've managed to reach 215 according to speedometer with Accord VI 1.8 100kw/136hp. It has hit fuel cut off at 5th gear, maybe it could go a little bit faster, but not with original gearbox. I believe it is possible with Prelude as well, btw, nice ride!
Excellent video. I used to own this generation of Prelude, same colour with the 2.2 VTi engine. Always fun to drive, the NA engine with VTEC sounds great when worked hard.
So jealous of your German highways. Not just because of the no speed limit, but also the drivers. Everyone actually cruises on the right and passes on the left, unlike here in America where I will get stuck behind some Karen's SUV going 10 under the speed limit in the left lane.
We really appreciate you taking us for top speed rides with you over there. The variety is what makes your channel so nice.We never know what you'll be driving next. Thanks!
okay but seriously, this is my dream car. dream model dream colour dream engine dream transmission. how to hell do i get one of these because it’s driving me insane. can’t find a single one where i live
