Mines was the 01 that had the two color flip paint from factory that looked blue and looked silver in certain light shades, I put some vogue tires on it, and boy it looked nice. Most people didn't know what it was, very nice...

I have a 1995 Aurora in Lt. Antelope. Only problem was a big oil leak that required engine out repair. 60,000 miles and a great road trip car. Would love to switch to the chrome wheels to jazz it up a bit. Few are on the road now and the car gets admirers wherever I travel. What is that car, I never heard of this brand? 27 - 28 mpg on a trip. Retail and trade in value is very low, so lots of them are not repaired and sent to the crusher. Engine got bad press, but if maintained properly can could provide good service. Oil changes and coolant survive is critical. Few options available - Diamond White/Pearl paint, Bose Stereo, heated seats, and Autobahn package (gearing and tires). I love mine!

fun fact this came with two final gear ratios a 3:48 and 3:71 which is the hot rod option.. my 97 was black on black and she was my highway hawker but it always reminded me of like 94 a impala ss lol

Is the shorter ratio the power mode?? I've noticed when it's on and shifts into 4th she gets into power band quicker
@zoidzoid87
@zoidzoid87 3 года назад
@@scott-nd1js when power mode is engaged it changes the shift points and quickens the shifts which is standard on all auroras ...but if you have the 3:71 ratio at wot it'll shift into 4th at 135 as opposed to the standard which is limited to like 112...so basically if your car can go pass 112 then you have the 3:71 ratio.

@@zoidzoid87 yep she screams to 140. That's why I love this car. Might be an old boat with a lesser powered v8 but she still gets up and goes like it ain't her business

I completely agree with you! I absolutely LOVE this car, and this one especially. The dark green with tan leather, it’s quintessential 90’s luxury. Too bad the mounting points where the motor mounts attach were rusting away.

A lot of potential problems with these cars. The first of which being head gasket issues with the NorthStar. After that a myriad of electrical issues The 2nd generation may have been a little more reliable but it had its shares of issues as well
@starxlr7863
@starxlr7863 5 лет назад
And most of that if not all stems from proper maintenance just like anything else. Electrical issues are easy to trace and fix if whoever working on it knows how to work on electronics. Head gasket issues is directly related to the cooling system.
@turnne
@turnne 5 лет назад
@@starxlr7863 Assuming that cars in the same price range are maintained equally...this car had a lot of problems that other cars did not. Those HG issues are real in the NorthStar. I remember own a Cadillac STS years ago and the dealership doing GM rebuilt engine swaps for HG issues...they didn't even do the head repairs
@starxlr7863
@starxlr7863 5 лет назад
@@turnne Well assume not because if these engines were maintained properly then there wouldn't be problems. Other cars also stem from the same issues and are mostly maintenance related. Head gasket leaks can happen in the Northstar and also very prevalent in many other GM engines and all started when Dexcool coolant came out around 1996. When its not flushed out when needed or worse, mixed coolants is when problems start. I've seen it many times. The 1950s Cadillac's also had the same problems of head gasket leaks when the cooling system is not maintained.
@turnne
@turnne 5 лет назад
@@starxlr7863 So You are saying that all of these people that had these cars with HG issues did nt maintain them So much so that the fear of HG issues took a hit out of resale value for NorthStar cars Meanwhile other cars at the same price point were better maintained..so those cars didn't have engine issues So..people that bought NorthStar cars disappropriately didn't maintain their cooling systems? That's an interesting theory you have there
@knightsofthefallen5
@knightsofthefallen5 4 года назад
@@starxlr7863 headgasket was actually due to head bolts pulling out of the softer metal of the block they fixed it in the 2nd gen by borowing the headbolts from the ls block
