Someone has probably shy'd away from a clockspring issue with that horn, they can get quite expensive and on most vehicles these days you also have to remove the airbag and steering wheel.

nice video leon thanks for sharing.i usually use a quick release clamp to hold horn button down instead of tape but tape works just as well.cheers

Scannerdanner has a very large RV indeed. That's interesting you all need a difference licence for that. Your like me, always working alone so you have to come up with ideas like that horn application tool. "Bob" that was funny. I know some Bob's that do that kind of work. That's a nice tool that allows you to look at that speedo gear. Sometimes you have to be an investigator to figure things out, nice job.

I've removed dozens of bodges from my vans wiring . Some clown hacked into the hazard lights to wire a gps , best of all he then cut the gps free when he sold the van . No tape to secure the wiring , just left open . At least three other open power feeds , two directly to the fuse box . Again no tape , no securing , just left behind the dash . Fuse block melted , but this turned out to be an issue , common on the 230 series . Spare speaker wires just wound around a fixing (i've had these overheat and melt) . Dashboard screw though an alarm ultra sonic wire . Scotch clips abound with both the front , and rear fogs , personally i hate the thing's . And you don't want to know how the reversing sensors were fitted . If i just say the display was mounted upside down ! Interesting one i found , was under the bonnet . D+ wire had been joined into with a much heavier wire and again involved a scotch clip . It was quite well hidden beneath the battery tray , and fed a 2 amp fuse above the battery . It does appears to have been fitted in the factory , and appears to feed what i believe is the split charger , but i struggle to believe this . However i've found a couple other naughty's which tend to back this up , and lead me to believe this may actually be the case . I also found a loose wire under the bonnet , which turned out to be front fog earth , lead from the fuse box . They never worked from the word go . Now i'm no expert , i'm a weekend spanner thrower , and this is a twenty grand , 22 year old motor . I've put them all right , even added a new circuit myself , but i go through every motor i own , and do try to keep them to a high standard . Even my mot examiner has commented on their condition , but this van has been a challenge .

I'm like you Leon of why in the world wouldn't someone just fix the problem with the horn like it should be. As you said, it's going to take time to route that mess of wires and then it's not done right :( And I know for a fact that Bob also screwed around with that speedometer cable. :)) Good video Leon!
