I bought this 1999 C5 Corvette last year and on this quick video I discuss some things that I like and some things that aren’t that great. Let me know if you want to know more.
I bought my C5 from a friend who was the original owner & told me that back then he was gonna buy that same Porsche, I told him thanks for buying the vette,, cause I wouldn't have bought that Porsche from him, C5 is a "99 with 46k miles, I love it!!!
Great looking Vette! I was wondering where you got the rear spoiler and how much it cost. Also is it hard to put on. Adhesive maybe? Also did you paint it? Or did you order it that way?
Nice Vette, I wanna put the same exhaust on my 04' C5, automatic and btw, it's still a pleasure to drive. Now, question is, does it have drone at highway cruising?
I have owned 3 C5s and this video reminded why the C5 is still a GREAT car even though the C6 was enough of an improvement that I am considering the C6 instead. I would not be surprised if I end up with a C5 though. 😁
I was just leaving a comment & before i finished it just disappeared? I have the same year, color, (inside &out) same mods , no rear spoiler or sport seats? However I do have the $ 3,000 magnesium rims but no H.U.D.? ( It was first bought in Canada by a woman who was an insurance agent. Which is why it probably has an automatic? I would of rather had a manual tranny but the car only had ,23,000, thousand miles on it for $12,000 Dollars. Last but not least it has the performance gears instead of the doggy 2.73 rear end gears so it is NOT embarrassing out of the hole ! P.S. to at least make it look good i installed a HURST T- handle to at least give it the impression that it has a manual tranny? \ nice car & video.
Beautiful car. Good video. I've got an 04. 24-hour at Lemans edition convertible. Auto trans. Everything is stock. Can't see having loud pipes. Love the burble of at idle. Don't need a lot of noise going down the highway.
Nice Video brother.. I own a C5 2001 Convertible metallic silver with red cherry interior w/ a White top. (Rare color combo) Only 34K miles. Mine is still bone stock but plan to change tire size and rims & exhaust. I like the Corsa exhaust systems👍
love that catback only boat motor sound 😂😂 keep that thing man I bought my 3rd one around the same time you did. I already modded the hell outta mine but the MM6 C5s are so hard to find for under 20 grand now its insane. Even the clapped out ones are way to expensive, personally I'd never get an auto LS car again. Waste of money if you wanna drive the car anywhere but the strip. Nice car though dude!
I love the manual! The only time I wished I had an auto was when my Corvette Club was in the Veterans Day Parade. It was a little over an hour of working the clutch. Luckily I have a remote bleeder. That fluid was jet black after that.
Awesome car man! I’ve been debating on picking one up for the last few months. Its been my dream car since I was a kid. In my 30s now and can finally afford it. Thank you for the detailed review, it’s just the convincing I needed
Just do it David . Life is good. My very first car was : 1985 white Pontiac Firebird standard transmission. Took a round trip to Toluca Mex from west palm beach Florida in 1990. Don’t drink and drive.
You mention at 4:55 you don’t have competitive driving. I believe you should. Press and hold down on the traction control button for 5 seconds and your display should indicate the change. Press traction control button again to turn off.
It's description per the owners' manual, Competitive Driving will only be available on C5s that have Active Handling. Active Handling was not available until the 1998 year model, where it remained a $500 option until 2001 when it became standard on all cars going forward. Any pre-2001 cars without JL4 Active Handling will not have the ability to select Competitive Driving.
I just picked up a 01 6speed z51 quicksilver metallic base 350hp 375tq with c6 wheels. New clutch all exterior lights updated to laser halos and corsa extreme cat back with x pipe. Love your car!!! Mines very similar. Guy was asking 14,500 but we settled for 12,700 cash.
Excellent review! Can’t decide between a C5 or C6. Have never driven either. I plan to test drive a few C6’s this weekend. Your C5 is pristine. I’d jump on one that clean in a heartbeat.
If you can afford it I would get the C6 but 2006 or higher. I only pay cash for cars so no C6 for me. The C6 base has 400hp vs my 99 with 345. Plus the C6 has more technology advantages than the C5.
@@alfredlyon27 Hey.. I keep hearing above battery drain on the 2005 models. Is that as serious as people say? I’m going to look at a low price, low like 2005 this weekend. If they’re that big of a problem I might hold off. Thanks.
@@thubb6 2005 is a C6 which I do not own but any car can have power drain, technically a parasitic draw. Usually if it’s been driven a lot in the rain or snow and the ground points get corroded. I try to stay away from the first year or any new version of a car. 2005 was the first year for the C6.
@@alfredlyon27 just curious why not 2005 I would really like to hear facts?we all know about harmonic balancer problems with all year but I need to know why you're dogging the 2005?
I’m looking at a 1999 with a fixed roof. Dealer told me that they are rare and only made in 1999 and 2000 and about 1500 in the US. Anyone know about this? Also the car has about 36,000 miles on it and was asking $25000 went down to 23000. I’m still deciding because I’ve heard that the ABS module on 1999 and 2000 go bad fast and they are not making them anymore so when replacing with a used part that part will be going bad too. Thoughts?
The FRC (fixed roof coupe) was released as a less expensive model until they incorporated it into the Z06 in 2001. If you don’t want to have a removable roof or a convertible it is a great option. Yes, the ABS module in the 97-00 models is not repairable. For that reason I would not pay more than I would be willing to lose on the car you are looking at. Low miles isn’t really a great thing on a 23 year old car. It means that it has sat for very long periods of time. This allows for vulcanization of any and all rubber parts and often leads to many repairs once someone actually starts to drive it. Personally, I wouldn’t pay more than $15k for any 97-00 and not more than $25k for an 01-04. For just under $30k you could find a pretty nice C6. They have more stock power and a little bit better technology. Also, I wouldn’t buy from a dealer at all. Private party or no sale.
